We have found the same when working on our own projects. Within the last few months a friend and I have been working on our own FaaS: https://3clouds.io/ We believe it solves about 90% of those issues - it's currently under heavy development and not ready to be used in production yet, but we think we are on to something here. Check it out, let us know what you think.

About a year or 2 ago I saw someone here on HN suggest doing this very thing. If my memory is correct, I think it was after jQuery's CDN once became compromised.

I wouldn't discount men from using this for purposes other than gawking. The idea is men would also download this, scan through and find what they'd like their SO to buy. We plan on rolling out a 'Share Wishlist' feature, that'll allow couples to choose together.

I don't think it's something I'd implement at the moment. Certainly if it was requested more I could contact a few suppliers and roll it out slowly across a few areas however.

I haven't yet decided upon a direction to take it to be honest.

I do have an update planned, I didn't anticipate the current amount of attention to be honest.

You should check out http://getlaravel.com/ for some basic examples. I've been using Laravel for a few weeks now and I love it! The simplicity is next to none and it certainly has sped up my dev time. I'd recommend trying it for a week and see how you get on, I think you'll fall for it too.
