I reverted some of my CSS and I think I've solved the CSS issues for the KPI cards and the datepicker + filter. Hope this improves the experience and thanks for the feedback.

1) I haven't tackled this use-case yet - added it to my roadmap. I'll give it a shot tonight itself and hopefully have some working code soon! 2) I'll look into the mobile-view CSS. I made some changes recently and I can see that this has messed up the KPIs and filters.

As a solo dev, I am not sure how to keep UI regressions in check. This is something I need to look into!

I have my eyes on a T490 - I've used ThinkPads in the past, and they are fabulous. I still do love Macs - their build quality is exceptional and the stability of the macOS is something I appreciate. I've never had a Win machine last 5+ years. YMMV

It sure looks like that ... the lack of ports is a bummer though.

Unfortunately, the screen has a bad case of staingate and it's very annoying. After all these years, the trackpad has died and some keys. I might just get it repaired to see if I can eek out a few more months/years from it.

I am not sure if this actually works, but, I've always steered clear of "Learn x in y days" kind of learning.

I've tried it and it reminded me of the old Debian using Gnome 2 which I absolutely enjoyed. I ended up using the "MacOS" theme in Mate which comes with useful key-bindings and shortcuts. Plus, it isn't much of a resource hog.

You can reduce its impact by adjusting the opacity while doing the overlay.

Do you mean that they look cartoonish-ly fast or slow? It could come down the frame-rate of the camera used for video capture.

The last step involves video compression which could take a bit of time depending on the size of the video. If someone can put it on the cloud, I'd love to take a look :)! Cheers!

Nice! I am actually just using my iPhone videos and converting them this way! The output is pretty good and when I shared them with family, they loved it. Thanks for the lens links.

Excellent point. Perhaps, a blurring filter would help with that.

We are not talking about control here (two toddlers - 1.5 and 4.5 here). We are talking about diaper changes, cooking, feeding, putting to bed, online classes, entertaining them because they can't be outside with kids their own age, tantrums, and usual baby stuff. Doing work full-time and taking care of babies full-time is leading to a lot of depression and loss of concentration on the work-front.

God - we are all in the same boat. I have a 4.5 and a 1.5 year old. I can work 2-3 hours in the morning and then I have to push all my work to late evening and I stay up till 1 am completing before waking up early to help with cleaning, cooking, and then caring for the kids.

Can't wait for daycare and montessori to re-open :(

Cropping is the only way I can think of, because, it merges the 4 videos (or how many ever in the stack) into a new video frame.

That's hard and I hope they can achieve this strategy!

Exactly - which is why the CDM is a contentious topic because you have no way to see what's inside it. Also, technologies such as HDCP, Trusted Execution Environment prevent the decrypted and decoded frames from being leaked. At least, that's the intention.

And the CDM vendors are Google, MSFT, and Apple. There's no way they are going to leak their code :)

What's really strong is the rotation of decryption keys. Content providers rotate the keys often (at times, in the middle of a movie, and very often during a live stream) to deter people from cracking the key.

Cracking DRM can be done and the goal from the other side is to make it hard and expensive. Nothing is impossible :)

Very true. And, the parameters change over time, but, the stackoverflow answers using the old parameters remain on top. This IMO adds to the confusion :)

Burning subtitles into the video implies re-encoding. And if you want maintain video quality, you'll have to choose a pretty good quality setting like crf=24 and this will take a lot of time even on H.264/AVC.

You are looking at multiple hours (>2) for a 2-hour movie from my experience. One way to reduce this is to spin up a DigitalOcean droplet (a $80 per month droplet) that'll give you a lot of processing power, finish your encoding in 2-3 hours,and shut it down. It'll save you a lot of headache and time.

It's actually super powerful and useful for simple one-off encodes or complex batch processes. I have worked for clients who required an end-to-end transcoding pipeline (ABR) with packaging, subtitles, multiple-audio, etc. and it took a 100 line shell script to get everything done.

Not in this article, but, they are coming up using H.265/HEVC. Not sure about AV1 support yet though. This is becoming an MPEG standard soon so AV1 support should come out soon.
