That may be a bit exaggerated. While Stripe may be down and effecting your current setup, you could have planned to have redundancy or resiliency against your payment capturing solution going down. No technology never breaks.

Turbolinks is plenty fast enough and simple enough for most Rails projects. Maybe sure you're relying on the correct Turbolink events and there's pretty much not anything else you need to change to have Rails automatically load server rendered markup through PJAX.

On PS Vue it depends on the method to watch the show. If it's a "favorited show" in the 28(I think) day DVR, you can fast forward at any point. If you watch "catch up"(shows that PS Vue has decided to store in the cloud but not one of your 'favorites) or "on demand" shows, most time FF will be turned off or limited.

An actual serious answer:

It's a line chart that shows story points starting at the top left in the beginning of the sprint. Which shows all points to be done, trending towards 0 points with 0 days left in the sprint, in the lower right.

Linear means that the same points are done each day to allow the line to be perfectly linear between the top left and bottom right.

I think for those writing a technical book, myself included, just don't know if it's worth going self-publish with a minimal cut from payment providers and such. Or getting on board with PragProg who would help with marketing, editing, etc and still get a decent royalty.

I understand there are no clear-cut rules to go by, but even a generic "If you don't have 10k email list, 50% of PragProgs sales will most likely be higher" might helper writers understand when to get help.

I can attest to this strategy working, albeit on a much smaller scale with my presale right now. Smaller price point, assuming much less traffic on the medium posts.

Yes, I can't approve of HelpScout enough, used them on the very generous fee tier. Was easy to use and the web app is pretty damn snappy.

No offense taken. I'm just trying to have a healthy optimism about writing, marketing and selling a book. 500k and 120k in sales seems like outliers. Would just be great to hear more about those experiences though.

Everything is a skill. Writing is a skill. Marketing is a skill. Some people will pay to read a book about the skill. Said writers would like to make money from writing said books.

Second time in a week I've seen you post about this(not a dig). Not quite sure there is the same sort of market for 120k in eBook sales for programming books, but your success definitely helps me hold hope my pre-sale continues to gain traction.
