Heh, this takes me back, due to the "Slayers" anime series. Although it looks a bit like a juvenile history (fantasy, magic, demons), the background story takes a lot from Ars Goetia, like the demons' seals and whatnot. A huge wikipedia rabbit hole :)

I just saw Memento last night (for the first time), so reading the article felt like an incredible coincidence.

All the stories I know and heard of stroke victims in their 30's or 40's make me think and ask: is there really a way to prevent or predict a stroke?

Would the "controversial routine full body scan" help? Specially to people who have a parent being an early stroke victim?

These things are scary as hell...

TL;DR:

If a high-powered lawyer who makes $1,000 an hour chooses to take an hour off to help clean up litter on the beach, he's wasted the opportunity to work overtime that day, make $1,000, donate to a charity that will hire a hundred poor people for $10/hour to clean up litter, and end up with a hundred times more litter removed. If he went to the beach because he wanted the sunlight and the fresh air and the warm feeling of personally contributing to something, that's fine. If he actually wanted to help people by beautifying the beach, he's chosen an objectively wrong way to go about it. And if he wanted to help people, period, he's chosen a very wrong way to go about it, since that $1,000 could save two people from malaria. Unless the litter he removed is really worth more than two people's lives to him, he's erring even according to his own value system.

If he feels it's unfair that he makes so much more many than others, he should make even more and give out what he think is enough to make it fair.

Although it has Clojure (my target language), you still send code instead of an answer, and you get problems like not knowing what's available in terms of libs and whatnot.

Every (serious) company prohibits it's employees from disclosing secret information, be it Linkedin or by phone, and even verbally with your friends. That doesn't mean it's forbidden to use Linkedin, make phone calls, or talk to people.

I was expecting "the ability to focus". You can have the greatest programming skills, but if you can't focus in doing what you need to do, it won't get done when it needs to.

And then you would have to trust app approval to a government entity. "Oh what's that, some encryption tool for secure communications? Not gonna happen." You would have lobbying from the big corps to have advantage over indie developers. And all those other things that happen every single time the government messes with private matters.
