And brigading here is also a thing, and comes at punishments of less karma and rate-limiting.

Most people want the "expected talking points", and especially so here. If you ask the bigger questions, and people collectively lose their shit. I removed the text from other posts because people have comprehension problems, and resort to personal attacks.

There's a whole slew of questions here, to of which its just "hate ai" is the expected response.

1. Why the double standard of women's (not men's) nipples equated to porn? [sex equality concerns]

2. Is this even porn? Even SCOTUS has the position of "I'll know it when I see it". Contrast this with non-sexual nudity, which too is a thing.

3. Is a privacy policy/clickthrough account creation adequate for consent? https://www.walottery.com/Privacy/

4. Why is the Washington Lottery (government org) using AI at all in the facilitation of gambling?

5. What other AI generated content is Washington Lottery saving, as per Washington State Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW ?

Wow, sure wish I was in that elite class. I aint. I was a guest.

All the decriminalize crap is pushed by rich liberal types. They live in luxury apartments or out in the burbs.

And they're doing those same drugs they want decriminalized.

Ask any poor or working class person. They don’t want this crap. Drugs ravage their communities. They have to deal with these problems.

Again, the drugs are the escape. Escape from what? Poverty.

Poverty is the actual thing ravaging communities. And in inner cities, it is definitely a zero-sum game, or likely negative-sum.

Rich people do drugs as an experience with friends. Its a whole different mindset than "i want to do drugs to escape the fact I dont have enough food and my tooth hurts and avoiding the gunshot sounds outside".

Same thing with the defund the police and other non sense.

Again, rich liberal types usually don't worry about petty theft or simple vandalism. They dont see it, and so they want to defund it.

Ive had a unique life, where I'm now middle class, went through living on the streets in poverty, and been the guest to some of the rich liberal class. You can try to make fun of me for my experiences. Try to understand whats going on, and why. And the rich are being honest in what they ask, but not what they say.

And in all my experiences, poverty and extreme income disparity is the actual elephant in the room. Drugs? They don't cause near the problem.

You're also wrong.

Ive been to the rich liberal types' parties. You know how some of them go? Like this:

You'll have a retreat to the den. The host will either send someone out to get "supplies" or they'll already have it. And they'll pull out a few eight-balls, and they'll put up a few hundreds around the room, and everyone will enjoy a few lines.

They'll then retreat to the in-house pool or hot tub, and enjoy.

I also had a friend who was a retired record exec, and it was routine that during lunchtime, they'd gather money to go down to the street and buy coke.

Just because they're rich, doesnt mean they don't do drugs. They likely do, just not on the streets. They do from their mansions.

(And its also the middle class who're scared shitless about drugs. My guess is because they don't have the money to hire a lawyer to keep a drug rap off.)

The problem is also damaging your brain and body with drugs, developing bad habits and/or drug addiction, your supply being contaminated/poisoned, making irresponsible decisions while intoxicated, etc.

We can make the same exact argument about sugar and HFCS. Either of those substances can make people feel extremely hungry even with a full stomach, thus make terrible decisions and damage their bodies.

Alcohol's much worse. Yet we tried banning that. Remind me how that went again? Oh thats right, we had federal agents poisoning alcohol to intentionally kill drinkers. Wonderful times.

For example cannabis can be mostly safe for adults, but children or teens who use too much of it can develop neurological defects like short-term memory impairment, depending on the frequency and duration of use.

Again, most drugs aren't that bad, regardless what DARE propagandized you into believing. Id advise anyone actually wanting to understand what a drug is like, to go to https://www.erowid.org/ and read up about experiences.

I've been on damn near every painkiller up to fentanyl. My fav is morphine. Feels like a glowing warmth and "home". I could easily see me doing a small amount on a friday evening after work's done. Id keep it down enough that I wouldn't get a tolerance, and I'd be "sobered" up by next morning.

Ive also been on amphetamines, and threw' em away. Made me feel TERRIBLE.

The 3 biggest scourge drugs we have are alcohol, tobacco, and sugar. And, when did bans actually accomplish the ban goal?

Sure the response can be excoriating, but the US government isn't giving up on Microsoft shit.

The USG is Linux-hostile, with exceptions like the NSA doing SELinux, Gidra, and other toolchains.

Linux would be the absolute best, along with things like OpenOffice and other FLOSS tools. The difference is to take the money you pay to MS and redirect them to FLOSS devs.

But, that'll never happen.

A friend of mine, who is transgender (this matters here), tried to get their pilots license. Initial paperwork was fine... UNTIL they get to the require mental health disclosure.

Basically, this person was born with the "wrong" genitalia. Frankly, it doesnt matter. But you have to go through mental health counseling for sex change operations. Which, given the changes it does to a human body, needs to make sure they understand it. I get this and it sounds reasonable and sane (this needs to be a well thought out change, and not just some whim).

But then, the FAA sees "mental health" listed, and they assume that you're wacko who's going to crash a plane full of people, or go full-on 9/11. Doesnt matter that its over a sex change to be in parity with what your brain is. You're a nutter.

They took 5 years getting the requisite "im not insane" paperwork from all the doctor etc. It was such a waste of time and money on everyone's part.

This whole debacle also is why pilots REFUSE to get mental health help, because getting it an lying is a federal crime. So the better answer is to never get it, go full burnout city, and hope nothing bad happens. Doubly so if you're a man - the FAA expects women to get mental health before a man does. If a man does, you're seen as suicidal/homicidal and defective. But to be fair, trans is viewed as even worse by the FAA.

Normalize mental health, for everyone. There's NOTHING bad about getting help. A little bit of help now solves a bigger problem later.

One thing I've noticed is that the admins are super ready to ghost/delete/dead people who respond to companies with harsh critique.

It's the similar way Ycombinator-sponsored crap has no commenting at all. A good portion of them are basically 'clone Uber and cut out bureaucracy illegally', 'we scan your eyeballs for shitcoin', and similar grift.... But you can never say anything about those.

You can laugh out loud all you want, but there are mandatory parking minimums for bars across the USA.

Yes, bars have parking lots, and a lot of spaces.

The intent is to *drive* there, drink and maybe eat, and leave in some various state of drunkenness. Why else would the spacious parking lots be required?

This type of punishment is actually pretty terrible for all parties.

I could easily see a different, harsher, but more fair punishment...

1. All assets are sold off to pay victims

2. Prison for a few years. 5?

3. can only work jobs where nobody reports to them (no management, C levels, etc). Also cannot make companies.

4. Cannot own more than 2 properties, one of which is his place of residence.

5. Cannot rent out any property.

6. 25% of what he makes goes into restitution for the rest of his life.

7. Investments into any wealth instrument is to be confiscated, with exception to a 401k.

Basically, this person cannot be trusted with making money other than by working for someone else. This still allows him to make a life, but severely limits the similar path he used to defraud people.

Sending this guy to prison for 25 years is a waste for everyone involved.

I learned a long time ago, that HN and YCombinator were never for me. We were too poor and never part of the elite SV venture capitalism scene, no matter how sharp or crazy the idea.

We were never part of that 'scene'. Hell, I even tried to enter the VC scene locally. It was all about blatant lying and redoing Uber than actual innovative and crazy ideas. I even had a 'mentor' say that I should just lie about hockey stick growth, cause that's what everyone does.

It's not that hard to see the emperor is dearlng no clothes. But damn, don't say that if you want to deal with SV folks.

I chose my words carefully after verifying their definitions.

And I believe in "Never Again", in any holocaust, genocide, apartheid, and similar - they should never be done.

Israel's government is hellbent on all of those things pertaining to the Gaza strip and the Palestinians.

Again, I would have figured the descendants of "The Holocaust" would have recognized that even war has limitations, and would have actually held to the ideal of "Never Again". But it really was turned into "Never again to us".

-------

And to your "You're in a war. Famine and bombs are a war.".... There are indeed limitations, which Israel is grossly violating.

international humanitarian law prohibits the starvation of civilians as a method of warfare (API Art. 54, APII Art. 14

The use of white phosphorus may violate Protocol III (on the use of incendiary weapons) of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCCW) in one specific instance: if it is used, on purpose, as an incendiary weapon directly against humans in a civilian setting.

The moment Israel started dropping white phosphorus bombs on the Gaza strip turned it into a literal "holocaust" (destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war). And, they've been dropping white phosphorus since 2009.

https://www.denverpost.com/2009/01/11/israel-accused-of-usin...

Prior to that, it was "just" a garden variety genocide, enforced by apartheid and with enforced starvation of at least 1.1 million people.

It is NOT "The Holocaust" (event in World War 2), but it ABSOLUTELY is *a* holocaust.

I would have thought the descendants of The Holocaust who ended up in Israel would have remembered the horrors, and actually believed in "Never Again" for all peoples. But it really meant "Never again to us".

EDIT:

To gryzzly : I would appreciate where I'm being "hateful". And you claim lies. What exactly am I lying about? Your pattern of "discourse" here is just fly-by namecalling slurs. Hopefully you'll change that.

to hotdogscout: I'm using the strict definitions of genocide, holocaust, and apartheid.

And "October 7 was worse than anything Israel did. If you have a better way to get the hostages back and guarantee this doesn't happen again I'm all ears. "

The answer has ALWAYS been "2 state solution", to of which Israel's response is bulldoze, subjugate, bomb, murder. Its completely unsurprising that the ones subject to such extreme violence on a mass scale (genocide enters chat) invokes people who are willing to stand up to such extreme violence.

If this was compared to that other war going on, Israel is the Russia as the murdering and invading force, and Palestine is Ukraine and those defending their homes and themselves from mass destruction and death.

Wew! the big problem isnt just with pirate videos...

"According to local news reports, the service generated R$4,542,034 ($912,000) in revenue over twelve months"

This wasnt some torrent stream for "anyone for free have at!", but a paywall for content.

Amongst old pirates, charging money is the big "DONT DO, EVER" flag. And with absolutely no money or goods trading hands, is "cleaner", than groups that gatekeep piracy with money.

-------------

At least in the USA, we need some sort of mandatory video reproduction similar to ASCAP/BMI/SESAC. I just count how many times it was played, and send in a royalty check.

If that was the case, I could create really cool themed setups, share with friends, take some money, and pay royalties on playback. For music, I *can* do that. But for video? Nooooooope.

And because that doesnt exist for video, means we have like what, 50 different streaming (pile of crap) services, and back to cable channel hell.

They fail the marshmallow test

Then you misunderstand the metric by poor people.

If you eat the marshmallow now, you get a marshmallow.

If you wait, it WILL disappear. You don't get a marshmallow.

Basically, for poor people, the "future" is just future suffering, judgemental assholes in government cutting more funds cause you made $10 more this month (welfare cliff), and your sad equipment breaking down at the worst case causing whatever meager savings to evaporate like smoke.

Wow, talk about taking a comment to an absurd point.

If OSHA was serious about safety, they would shut the offending machine down until remedied.

If there's enough problems in a facility, then they shut the whole place down.

But therein lies the problem - then the employees don't get paid. The "fine" should go to the employees for endangerment and payment of lack of work.

But no, fines.

22.8% (258,730) were license forfeitures. When a person is charged with a misdemeanor driving offense and either does not show up to court or fails to pay the fine.

I didn't show up to court once, over a civil matter.

Thats because I was kicked out of my parents house. Homeless. And when I tried to go to the BMV to declare homeless status and NOT to send mail to that address, they refused me. I got a civil summons in the mail. Parents destroyed it and all mail addressed to me. And I got a summary judgement against me.

I tried to change it to my email address with the BMV, as that was stable. Of course not. Homeless people are less than humans who deserve derision and hate... and judgements against you.

I wonder how many of that 258730 fell into the same boat?
