The main issue with evaluating content for what it is is how extremely asymmetric that process has become.

Slop looks reasonable on the surface, and requires orders of magnitude more effort to evaluate than to produce. It’s produced once, but the process has to be repeated for every single reader.

Disregarding content that smells like AI becomes an extremely tempting early filtering mechanism to separate signal from noise - the reader’s time is valuable.

Built in KVM is not that important any longer, with all the new options for adding an external one. gl-inet comet kvm, nanokvm pro, jetkvm, etc.

You can use more than one key you know.

Keep the private key you actively use in the secure enclave. The system you actively use is most at risk.

Keep a secondary offline private key as backup. You can generate and store it in a secure location, and never move it around. Airgapped even if you want. You could even use a yubikey or other hardware for the secondary key giving you two hard to export keys.

Distribute pub keys for both of them.

I remember a few years ago when our niece came to visit. One evening, we started watching a movie on Netflix together.

I don't own an iPhone so I don't know for sure if old messages clog iPhones too but the article hints that this is the case. Maybe Apple is happy to sell new phones with more storage to people that run out of space. Maybe iMessage is a tiny storage eater, maybe not. Photos, videos, vocal messages are on the phone forever too?

iOS has a built in tool that help you identify and clean up space hogs. It’s first recommendation is usually to remove large messages attachments. It will show you a list of all attachments (descending size), you select the ones you want to remove and hit delete. It also offers to automatically delete messages after some time. It’s a global option though, not per chat, not usable if you only want some to be ephemeral.

We had a fleet of dedicated hetzner boxes w/10 gbit, it’s just an option you get and pay a little extra for. Generally had good performance as well.

Generally gets attributed with:

- Increased liquidity. Ensures there's actually something to be traded available globally, and swiftly moves it to places where it's lacking.

- Tighter spreads, the difference between you buying and then selling again is lower. Which often is good for the "actual users" of the market.

- Global prices / less geographical differences in prices. Generally you can trust you get the right price no matter what venue you trade at, as any arbitrage opportunity has likely already been executed on.

Not that different for the prodesk/elitedesk small form factors IMHO. There’s a steady supply of cheap used ones available on most online marketplaces (there’s probably millions of them being cycled out of offices every year).

Get a new replacement one, swap over the NVME. Doesn’t have to be the same cpu, linux handles the rest.

In what way is ZFS a good filesystem for lightweight devices like watches, phones, pads and single ssd/nvme laptops?

APFS and ZFS have very different design goals.

That said though, they could obviously have supported both, but from their perspective it makes sense to design for the 90%+.

Those were great. I turned one of mine into a 4G enabled garage opener some years ago, battery backup and everything.

Was a real pain to find an archive of the flashing utility and images.

A guy at the office has a 3D printed contraption featuring a solenoid striking a bike bell for his terminal.. and there’s a cathedral nearby.. don’t give him ideas..

See, it figured out that the fastest route when summoned "from a home in L.A., to Times Square" is via the air. Smart car.

It will also use knowledge about the destination to prep the car. Heading to a charger? It will prep the battery so that it’s at the optimal temperature for charging on arrival etc..

That said though, there are route planners that can give excellent range estimation (both for online and offline cars), by taking into account the terrain/temperature/etc, like ABetterRoutePlanner - ABRP

Moving from an aging intel macbook to a modern m2 is a night and day difference, the passive cooling won’t limit you for most dev tasks you throw at it.

As for your throttling, I experienced massive throttling issues on a 2018 macbook pro 15”. Started out of the blue, and was so bad that I couldn’t even do 15 minutes of video meetings before audio and video lag and break ups set in. Lived with it for weeks, until I tried resetting the SMC - which worked like magic! Machine returned to its former glory. Worth a shot in your case as well.

Other things to try if the machine is aging, is to open it up, clean all the dust, and reapply thermal paste. It might be all clogged up depending on where you’ve used it. Aging thick thermal paste can be pretty bad as well.
