Now its all about running Linux on beefy servers, obscure embedded devices, cell phones, clusters, and well, you name it.

Two things to consider:

A) Slicehost isn't an overnite operation. Not saying I don't wish Prgmr all the luck in the world, but still ...

B) vCPUs don't matter as much as the guest/host contention ratio does. If I gave you 4 VCPU's and stuck you on a host with 128 other VMs .... you performance is going to suck no matter what. The fewer the number of guests, the better the performance of the guests.

Now only if Slicehost would stop sending me email I've got credit with them even if I have used 'em for over a year ...

Its not advisable to switch to Ext4 until at least kernel 2.6.30, which is not out yet.

I like DD-WRT for my router as well. Its just plain awesome, and their router compatibility page tells you exactly which model's do and do not work, and if what extra steps are needed to install the DD-WRT firmware.

IBM still charges big banks CPU time on the bank's own hardware.

Big bank backend apps are written to sleep as much as possible, and then do everything all at once in order to save on CPU costs.

So on one hand, no country should ever take its currency's favor status for granted. But if you've ever spent a fraction of your life looking at the rules and regulations behind currency trading by central banks, you'll see two rules everywhere:

1 - Every central bank will trade its own currency.

2 - Every central bank will trade in USD.

(Even if they hate the USD with a blinding passion.)

The USD is the global standard not because of some diabolical scheme by the US, but rather because it is liquid beyond liquid. EVERYONE IS WILLING TO TRADE IT!!

Can the same be said about the Mexican Peso ? Nope, even some of its neighboring central banks are not willing to trade it.

I fail to see why A) Web developers need to put down their users constantly, instead of working with them. B) Why web developers think that Twitter can do no wrong.
