Do you guys hold social events?
Edit 1: (I want to meet people actually working on startups rather than those that just talk about them in various business conventions.)
Edit 2: Maybe something like the YC dinners, except people bring their own food / contribute some dish / or pay.
Edit 3: I'm more interested in meeting the people at HH than renting the room.
Where's the discussion for this? This is the story I was waiting for ... except there is little hard #'s in the article. So maybe insightful members can share data + numbers.
Thanks!

why didn't you submit any to graphics / visualization conferences?
http://www.sigmod.org/dblp/db/indices/a-tree/m/Michail:Amir.... ?
I'm not seeing any in top tier conferences (for visualization) ... what are the top tier conferences for source code visualization?
Seconded. Anyone else have info on this? From personal experience in creating a networked 3d graphics application, latency is a huge issue even for synchronization ... never mind rendering + trying to get it to the client in 1/30th of a second.
Hang out around Stanford or Berkeley CS departments.
Stanford has 'BASES' created specifically for this.
okay, so perhaps people like myself can not buy houses by taking loans from the bank ...
but what about people that already have giant piles of cash on hand? ... who can buy houses w/o taking any loans at all
the question is not one of morality; but one of economics, of why individuals acting in their own best interest have not done this yet?
in particular, if people are greedy enough to cause this mess, why are they not greedy enough to benefit from it?
amazing; thanks; hacker news really needs to get it's own block
is there a good search engine for searching these things? houses may be low enough to buy for recent college grads; if no such engine exists .... ycombinator idea? :-)
is iphone 3.0 only for the iphone, or is it supported on the ipod touch too?
