Global Rich List 13 years ago

Yep, same here. I live in Sydney AU and the app also put me in the top 1% richest people in the world by income.

When I did it by wealth, the result was: "Your personal wealth is equal to the combined wealth of 0 people in Myanmar." and "1% of your wealth could feed a family of four in Ethiopia for 0 months."

There's no doubt that we live way more comfortably than most people in Myanmar do but it's clear that being born with wealth to start with helps no matter where you live.

If the questions are so frequently asked, shouldn't they be answered within the copy of a website, or the usual workflow of an app?

The web design community has spent years campaigning against separate FAQ pages and this will be seen as a step in the wrong direction.

Providing a way for users to seek or offer help is great but that's what support apps like GetSatisfaction or TenderSupport are for.

I find the domain name clever and funny but a joke is not a business and there's no way any of the brands we work with would want to associate themselves with it.

Tips: change the name, drop all references to "FAQ" and ensure it's obvious how your app can be used by web professionals with content strategy experience (e.g. to provide user support or collect questions that need to be answered within the content of a website or an app).

Great post.

I agree that execution is everything and an idea without a proper execution is worthless. So any smart ass MBA's with "game-changing ideas" but absolutely no idea about what it takes to actually build something from nothing need to take a long hard look at themselves and stop being bullshitters.

However, the title of the post is not 100% accurate as the term "stealth mode" does not specifically relate to not launching, protecting a non-existant "IP" or being unwilling to share your ideas.

Launching a product in "stealth mode" (as in avoiding significant public exposure and media coverage during the first stages of the product's life) can in some cases be a good marketing strategy and I can see why some entrepreneurs would choose to launch to a smaller group of customers and test their ideas and implementations before contacting Techcrunch, going onto Mixergy or wasting time meeting with VC's who want a piece of the action before anyone knows what the action is.

Maybe we need to find a clearer definition of FU money.

It should most likely be the value of current, highly liquid assets that ensure one's long term financial security and independence.

A steady income of $250k a year should be enough for most people to enjoy a very comfortable life and potentially build up a certain amount of wealth. But what happens if you loose that stream of income (due to illness or a change in economic or political factors)? You may run out of your accumulated savings quite quickly and in turn loose your independence and security.

So far, the suggestions have been: $2 million, $6 million and $20 million.

Perfect timing.

Coincidentally, we have just launched an early version of a microblogging site called idlike.to which lets its users share their wishes, plans and goals.

We are working on a bunch of new features and our roadmap is quite similar to Scott's vision.

We don't see idlike.to as a Facebook killer (we'd like to take a different direction) but this post is definitely very encouraging.
