The Realtek Ethernet is know to cause issues. Based on reports on various Mac forums the most reliable option for Ethernet is Apple's own Thunderbolt adapter which uses the Broadcom BCM57762. For current Macs it needs to be used in connection with the Apple's Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter.

I don't recall how I came across it but remember well the relief after using it the first time. It was the first package manager on MacOS that worked and made installing common tools painless. With MacPorts, fink etc it felt like it would have been better to built from source yourself.

From my interaction with people from NGOs, mostly from foreign aid organizations, there seemed to be as many people genuinely trying to make a difference as the ones that are only interested in their own agenda. I would like to think the smaller an organization the easer it is to maintain certain standards and not the other way around.

I'm not sure if working for an NGO is necessarily better in terms of culture. It seems to me you can have good or bad culture and management either way, regardless whether the purpose of the organization is making profits or not.

No doubt, there is a huge difference between a real cameras and smartphones in terms photo quality. I still sold my digital fullframe recently, even though I tried to keep the setup physically as small as possible it always felt like extra luggage. I'm now using an old but very good compact film camera for those special moments, which is easy to use, super compact and makes great photos.

You don't need a some third-party thing, you can create the profile yourself using the Apple Configurator. Agree that this should be an easily accessible system setting like OP suggests.
