This is something I never understood about Firefox OS. Why did they not package it up in a way that it could be easily installed on someone's existing smartphone. I was eager to give it a try also but there was nowhere to buy the hardware and I never found a way to install it on a spare smartphone.

I doubt that's the rationale. No offense, but you sound like someone who only knew about him because of his show. He's been doing a lot of different things and I would say that arguably his career is doing better than ever.

I'm not sure if it works that way in real life. Dreamweaver made it really simple to create websites but look at the quality of what was produced. Any good developer would not use this tool even though it did make things simpler

This is a taste of the future. More and more people are creating things using tools and frameworks but not really understanding the underlying concepts. When I pick up a bookshelf at IKEA and put it together, I don't start calling myself a carpenter because of it.

I don't think it was dismissive at all. When a post rises to the front page of HN people are going to post comments both agreeing or disagreeing. In my case, I don't see what all the hoopla was about or how this was upvoted to page 1

Wouldn't that be a huge security flaw? Someone with access to your phone could uninstall the app then read all the messages.

Thats not true. I've had several employers tell me that not having a LinkedIn account was amateurish.

It will probably get to a point where employers think you are lying because "everyone" has a facebook account.

right, but wouldn't low numbers to begin with indicate problems beyond just the website? What's the metric then? If the site is generating 100k a year and you bump conversions by 10% is that success? If the site is only generating 10k per year, then does conversion need to go up 50% to be considered successful?

Am I the only one who thinks perhaps his expectations were too high. I'd be extremely happy if the redesign I'm working on increased the conversion rate by 20%. How is that failure?

Basically, I'm trying to appease higher ups who insist that we need an app, but dont understand all the complexities about maintaining separate codebases, app store approval process, etc... As long as there is something installable in the app store, they're happy. And I can code the site in such a way as to mimic a native app, so the end user wont know the difference.

Right, I understand that part, but it still sounds like it converts your site into a native app. If I then made a change to the site, I would have to do the whole process over again. I'm looking for something that points to the site, so I can update the site all I want without having to change the app at all.

Yep, I've seen phonegap, but I'm not looking to port the website, just have an app that could display it.

Can you explain exactly what devices they wont stream to? I have Netflix also and am able to view it on my PC and my TV thru Roku or XBOX.

What's to stop you from switching to Amazon? Have you tried watching a movie on Amazon? Way less usable and its hard to find movies sometimes. Netflix has a way better interface and what I find myself doing is checking on Netflix first, and then only if they don't have it, do I go to Amazon.

This sounds like so much bullshit. Aside from it being physically impossible to add so much muscle in such a short time, here's a few things that jump right out as being obviously fake:

Suit size went from 40 short to 44 regular. The short and regular is the sleeve length. I'm not seeing how this changes regardless of how much muscle you put on.

The before photos look obviously bad, visible shadow. The after pictures look much better, better lighting.

No tan in the before pic but tan and hairless in the after. Bodybuilders do this to give the appearance of more muscle.

The distance from camera changes in the before pics. Gives the appearance of being smaller or it stretches him out so he looks skinnier.
