My "telescopic" thoughts on making this an interview question. When completely expanded, it does not have a grammatical flow in some parts because I couldn't edit text once created and I did not want to start from scratch.

If they can't build the permissioning around their apps immediately, it will be a good idea to list the phone resources (camera, voice, speakers, etc) that an app uses on the app store page.

Short answer: Use anything, it doesn't matter. All the major languages have good web frameworks these days.

Long answer: You will find comparisons between Rails, Django, ASP.NET MVC and a hundred other web frameworks all over the net. While some of the web frameworks are more elegant and mature compared to others, all of them are constantly evolving and growing. Your choice should depend on your core language skills. Which language are you comfortable in? Which language do you want to be coding in for a long time and possibly make a career in?

My suggestion would be to pick Python. There are plenty of hosting options for Python and Django. Have a look at http://code.google.com/appengine/

I was naive (or inexperienced) enough to take the word of my boss when he said that the firm will match an offer I had with another firm. One year later, I am working with the same firm for 80% less than what I could have been earning.

Have you spoken with others in the startup? Do they feel the same way? Have you told your boss this? You should, and either they hear you and try to learn from their mistakes, or they don't and you move on.

I agree. Instead of (or in addition to) creating a website like this on tumblr, you could showcase your design skills by creating a better designed and more visually appealing website. Works better to get you a new job than a simple footnote saying "I'm available for hire..."

I've tried both Kindle and Nook and my experience with Kindle was a lot better than my experience with Nook.

Kindle is user friendly and it gets out of the way as an electronic device once you start reading a book. Nook feels unpolished and awkward in your hands.

Sure, Nook has some edge over kindle with things like a small touch screen (which I found is rather unusable), expandable memory and android. But Kindle does a much better job at being an e-reader than Nook does.

I see your point that the video fits the actual usage style. But I had two issues while playing the video.

1. The volume was too high. I wanted to mute the video first before adjusting my system's volume. 2. I wanted to pause, check out the features mentioned in the video for a while and then resume the video.

So I did need the controls. They can appear only on mouse over so that the feel of a live demo still remains.

The intro video does not have any playback controls. I'd like to see some standard play/pause and volume control buttons. Also, once I close the intro video, the green "First time here" banner disappears and I have to hunt for the link to re-play the video (which is located at the top right corner).

Sony's touch screen makes the display (which is the most important feature in a reader) inferior to Kindle's. Also it's expensive compared to Kindle.

Kindle DX's $490 price tag (compared to Kindle's $260) is intimidating, which brings me to the question: Is it worth spending (almost) double the amount and buying a Kindle DX instead of a Kindle?
