German here. Have a kid in elementary school and one in middle school. No phones allowed whatsoever. But to be fair: every school in Germany can decide that for themselves. But when we were choosing schools, all schools had similar rulesets. Some event prohibited smart watches.

Any personal experience with it? Recommended?
I recently attended a agentic SWE workshop and the starter project was this, whispr style, local voice dictation app. Took everybody around 30mins. tbh: i was kinda impressed.
Agree. Slept on.
Wish they would do an ios version, but the creator already kind of dismissed it.
A Claude Code plugin that automatically captures everything Claude does during your coding sessions, compresses it with AI (using Claude's agent-sdk), and injects relevant context back into future sessions.
Just tried it. Works. Very nice! Would be interesting to know what is still left that Gram removes...
Great writeup! For VAD did you use heaphone/mic combo, or an open mic? If open, how did you deal with the agent interupting itself?
Mirrors my experience as well. Especially the pro-activeness in tool calling sticks out. It goes web searching to augment knowledge gaps on its own way more often.
Dont bother, that was a borderline right-wing comment. Dont need to guess which political party the fella is voting for.
100% agree. But that also feels like the elephant in the room somehow. Most western pension systems are stretched to (or beyond) their limits already. I expect that having GLP1-s widely available will extend the life of a LOT of people even further. And then ... what? Im really surprised that nobody talks about that.
As a GLP-1 user im really surprised that this is newsworthy. The mechanism of how these drugs lead to weight loss is appetite reduction. On GLP-1s -> less appetite, off GLPS-1s -> more appetite. Given the general health benefits that are being observed with GLP1-s the only reason to get off them is costs imo. They are absurdly expensive. Hope this will change in the next 10 years with patents running out and generics being available for cheap. The actual cost of production seem to be quite low. Gray/black market has them available for around a tenth of the otc price.
Love my Datos (also own the drum now)! My kids are jamming with them regularly. Only issue: my youngest LOVES the "Crush" button and just holds it the whole time. Not easy for noise sensitive parents :)
Tor on mobile devices (at least iOS, Android) is not recommended anyway. Guess true Linux phones might finally see their hour.
but how was he found out? did telegram cooperate with korean law enforcement?
Just recently discovered Devins DeepWikis and love them. Same idea, talk to your repo, right? What does Sourcebot doe differently / better? https://deepwiki.org/
Outside of the stated requirements because its not fully open source, but https://www.cloudron.io/ made all my self hosting pains go away.
Really love this! Will the dataset be updated with new content in the future?
So, what would have happened if they hired him? Would he have his AI mask on in all future calls. Clearly this would not be sustainable, or? Im confused.
No reason to be snarky. You did not provide any information on the matter beyond 'because I say so'.
My daily driver for the last year or so. But it really is an acquired taste. Some colleagues love it and now use it as well, some hate looking at it and comment on it every time I share my screen.
I recently also wanted to play around with some itunes podcast data. But it seemed Apple removed the scrapable catalogue index of their podcast library. How did you build up your database, if i may ask?
Thanks for the link. This illustrates my concern pretty well. Instead of having one highly relevant index we now have a multitude of smaller services that hold information about the podcast universe. And afaik they dont confederate in any way. So one would need to query all of them...
These guys came up a with a "preprompt" for ChatGPT that does a decent job in refining your initial prompt and asking questions for clarification. Seems they mix some of the best practices like chain of thought, etc.
Thanks! Already looking into it.
cool, thx! will check them out!
Hi, just double checked myself. The results that pocketcasts is delivering are from single episodes. Podbear currently only knows about the shows themselves, not single episodes. But thats a good point! Thanks for mentioning it.
Agree, some search magic going on. Though I would expect a different ranking when I sort by "Popularity". And searching for "infoq.com" [1] gives even worse results imo. But ok, results expectations can be highly subjective :)
Ah! Now thats interesting. When I use the Algolia powered HN search eg https://hn.algolia.com/?q=infoq it sorts by default by "Stories"->"Popularity"->"All Time". Highest scoring post there has 34 points. I would expect that at least the two posts that you dug up would appear there on the top. Or do I misunderstand how HN search should work?
The sentiment is probably not abou GCP as a whole, but about its trigger happiness when it comes to deprecating services.

Paulina24 | Senior Software Developer Frontend/Fullstack | Typescript, React, Remix | Startup | REMOTE within Germany (with some occasional traveling to meet up together)
Hi, CTO here :) Im currently building up the core tech team for our newly founded company Paulina24. We are tackling the problem of finding affordable elder care (in Germany).
We are pre-revenue, but well-funded by a reputable PE fund. Go-to-market MVP is in the final stages of development but everything is still very rough.
What we currently lack is an experienced Frontend/Fullstack developer, preferably well-versed in React or similar frameworks.
Read all about it here: https://paulinahilft.notion.site/Senior-Software-Developer-F...
So if you enjoy working in an (mostly!) crunch-free environment with high ownership, trust and collaboration ... I would love to hear from you!
