That's a great article. I thought I was pretty secure with the two-factor authentification. But with the 'socialing' technique it looks quite easy to break. To me, the best advice is to give bogus answers to security questions. That leaves very little chance to pass through the password resetting process.

To be fair, they spent a lot of time, beside the main Genome project, to build and try out interfaces to showcase artworks, which has always suffered a poor UX. It was in closed beta, though, but I had the chance to see their progress on this side and I can tell it is pretty amazing.

All of this reading is great, and I mean it. I've read a lot of it. But one thing bothers me: the time spent reading is precious if you're an entrepreneur. It should not take over your work, so basically you read on your free time. I personally think it is important to pull the plug sometimes. That's why I try to read less startup stuff, and let my mind wander with novels. Read literature, that's where the inspiration comes from.

Interesting point: people need to know how different it is to customize a WordPress theme and building a Rails CMS. If, before knowing how to actually code, people can judge of the quantity and quality of work required to build something, the world will certainly be better.

Obviously a low price with thousands downloads is way better than a higher price with only hundreds of purchases. $2.99 * 5000 > $10 * 500 Time will tell but I'm pretty sure this is a good strategy.

Good job on the app. I don't see why copying the facebook menu is bad, considering it is a simple and effective way to add tabs which has somehow become a best practice. And as you say it's easily recognizable, so the credit goes to facebook as well.

Good point on the use of maps on mobile. The Maps scrollbar of death™ is evil, and it's a very good practice to have it replaced by a clickable static map.

But better days will come, as french politicals and execs tend to be more of followers than of trend setters. Very few older people (above GenY) understand the concepts and issues of the open web and the importance to provide it to each citizen on the same level. Meanwhile, France is still making of fool of itself.

I'm not sure about the accuracy of the recommandations. After a few clicks I was advised with a "deux étoiles" (2 stars) restaurant which is a top-notch place for gastronomy, not the kind of place you would hang out and drink beers. To me, the database could need some refining.

I've been using Instapaper a lot for text to read later, and I need to complete it with something to keep track of my discoveries. Pinboard looks great indeed, but how is the Read later feature? Worth leaving Instapaper?

I've just tried this one and it's great! It's simple, unobtrusive and smart: a logo in the address bar indicates that the post is already on HN. If you click it you're taken to the comments page. Neat!
