I wonder how many of these answers are real and how many is something people want/value but don't actually do in reality. But then again, a fake story from one person that makes two people change in a good direction is better than truth, no?

I wish more people running fullscale installations of Microsoft Office actually evaluated what the needs of the users are.

Does everyone need cloud sync to SharePoint? Shared calendars? Lync integration? Meeting room bookings?

The office suite can be really good (yes, I actually think so and use it by choice for my own company) if used correctly.

But sometimes all people want to do is write a 2 page paper on photosyntesis for biology, then it might be overkill.

I would use it if you built in conversions for us that think in deciliters and not spoons or lb.

Ie a dropdown on the profile settings page.

Having a partner to discuss with, learn from and teach makes everything both easier and harder. But it's not a substitute, rather it's a complement, to the books suggested above.

Easier because 2 sets of eyes and 2 minds will let you make smarter progress.

Harder because you have to think about the other person. But this is the good kind of hard.

Guess that reading the google maps api to find the walking distance function would have taken me more than 15 minutes.

The 15 minutes concept would probably make good katas to keep stuff you have already used up to date in your memory. Would love to see a collection of small challenges like this grouped under different kinds of tags. This one might be javascript, google-maps for instance.

Coding-music is as much about familiarity as the actual songs. They should all be similar, but with some varied tempo to make you realize that the world outside still exists.

And sometimes I just put on some white noise, that does the trick when you just want laser focus.

I built my first complete rails app interacting with a remote API. http://www.tweepsmanager.com and then I put the repo up on github https://github.com/pbjorklund/Tweepsmanager for everyone to see and judge.

Some day im going to come back to it and walk through the commit history and see if I ever made any progress in my rails skillset.

It's one of those everlasting work-in-progress projects, right now I'm not sure what functionality I want to provide. Right now im thinking about collecting data and drawing some conclusions. But that will probably be another app.

It also made me realize that something like Sinatra + backbone would be a better fit. So I guess thats something atleast.

The act of sharing also requires you to evaluate what you know . It is through the act of teaching that we can be more certain that we have truly learnt. I myself often think that I know something, but when I try to explain it to someone I often find nuances that I hadn't considered yet.

I don't think Leo is talking about giving the keynote adress at some GCC symposium but rather sharing with the intent of gathering feedback as to gain further insight into the subject.

It's not so much about training someone as it is about growing knowledge together.

More business should have these kinds of requirements (as long as they live up to them in the actual day-to-day)

I tend to pick up a book on subject X from time to time and getting bored after a while just repeating code. Fear of jumping in and doing things "the wrong way" is probably the reason. I tell myself that im going to come back to it; and never do.

Do anyone else have any experience on the subject? I have a nagging feeling that this is how most people actually ship product and would love some input.

At my university, in Sweden, cheating means suspension (that includes plagiarism) for up to 10 weeks. Just last week 5 different cases got 8 weeks each..

A lighter, enjoyable podcast from Leo Laportes network. I've been listening to this every week since it launched and it's one of the ones I never seem to miss. It's perfect for a commute where you tend to miss things here and there.

Please make it sync with notational velocity, simplenote etc. A clean lightweight (optional interface view of app?) would be to die for.
