From all the "business" books I've read this one is just packed with actionable advice instead of motivational gibberrish. I've built my productivized consulting offer based on these tips, and it helped me quit full-time job over 3 years ago. So far no plans to go back.

In most cases includes gets the job done, but I agree that sometimes explicitly choosing the eager loading method is needed.

Honestly, it was a theoretical idea I've had after having been a "just police" in my previous team. I can imagine that setting trigger to "just" would probably be an overkill in many cases. If I were to implement it now I'd start with "let's just" and "why not simply" is also a good candidate.

Story about my SAAS made it to the front page ~3 years ago https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16616991 . Back than the project was making some pocket money. I've received a lot of valuable insights in the comments. It allowed me refine the features and business model, to a much more profitable format. Right now this project is my main source of income and it allowed me to quit my job to focus on pursuing other challenges.

BTW I use this magic link https://news.ycombinator.com/over?points=100 to filter out less valuable stories that "growth hackers" push to the frontpage. Since I've started using it, browsing HN has become much more pleasant.

OP here. This article generated some attention and traffic. The claims contained in it are incorrect. After another contact with CF support, it turned out that the Bot Fight Mode behaves differently for Free and PRO plans. That's what caused the instant improvement after upgrading. Another way to resolve the issues I was experiencing would have been to disable the bot fight mode altogether or add a custom page rule disabling it. My website never experienced any traffic throttling. I've decided to remove the article, to stop spreading the misinformation about CF services.

Like I wrote, for some integrations it is not possible to gather all the logs. Also how will you know that a client accessing your website in a browser gets 503 instead of your web page?

If you're on free plan you have no way to know if this has happened to your website.

I've stopped using Disqus on my blog for exactly the reasons described. I've switched to https://commento.io/ and the site started loading noticably faster.
