In the long run China will most likely prevail, in the short run they are definitely feeling the pinch. Nothing wrong with complaining about the situation.

China will almost definitely be on par or even cross the USA/Taiwan capability in chip manufacturing.

The only loser in this scenario is the US, both short & long term.

20 years ago, I wouldn't be so confident about china prevailing. But I don't think any reasonable person will bet against China.

The fall of China has been greatly exaggerated for more than a decade or so. Yet they are still here, doing mostly fine.

I don't have to agree with their political/human rights situation to marvel how far they have come and still going strong.

Why not. Put it behind cloudflare and you are good to go. Even if you don't put it behind cloudflare you should be good. There are many entry level vps that are not nearly as powerful as a podern smartphone, and people host plugin heavy WordPress on then.

like this:

  sudo apt install pandoc wkhtmltopdf
  npm install -g readability-cli
  pandoc -s https://www.paulgraham.com/avg.html -o output.html && readable output.html -o readable.html && wkhtmltopdf readable.html output.pdf &&  open output.pdf
going even further using bash script to prompt for url.
  #!/bin/bash

  # Prompt the user for a URL
  read -p "Enter the URL: " URL

  # Use the URL in the pandoc command
  pandoc -s $url -o output.html && readable output.html -o readable.html && wkhtmltopdf readable.html output.pdf && open output.pdf

  chmod +x web2pdf.sh
  # add an alias to bashrc
  alias web2pdf='/path/to/your/web2pdf.sh'
  source ~/.bashrc

You know I have been hearing this and its many incarnation debt related doom scenario for atleast 20+ years, when I first started following it. Probably longer. Every few years, when debt related doomed future story pops, I feel lile no one really knows what is going on, or even worse what they are talking about.

You were literally bullying this person and being very condescending and then turn around and accuse him of bullying you. Why is it ao hard for you to accept that some people might different opnions?

I would guess those are the big 4. I am pretty sure they scraped most of the internet.

"Sentiment Analysis" & "Emotion Lexicons" are part of the training process for all major LLMs.

Since you are "judging a book by its cover", or this case a name. This might interest you, that karpathy was co-founding developer of OpenAI, left to work at Tesla to head their AI development for 5-ish years and now back at OpenAI.

I can understand that you might be interested in book form only, I was lile this for the longest time, until I bumped into some really high quality video series that changed my mind to be a bit more flexible.

Also Important to note that LLM development is moving at a very fast pace recently so a book form might not be ideal. The basic ideas might be same, most of it might be out of date 6-12 months from now. I dont see how anyone could write a quality book that covers everything on this.

Looking at the quality of current google searches I highly doubt it. I mean I could single handedly remove thousands of domains in a month and improve google search result, I have a hard time believing that they have 1000s of people doing it and the quality is this shitty.

This. Linus knowledge with technical details is very shallow at best. Most of his videos have scripts pre-written and double checked by more knowledgeable members of his teams.

His jokes are not even that funny. The amount of followers he has is insane.

There are only so maany ways you can overclock/mod a build or "accidentally" drop expensive computer parts.

This happens so often, I am surprised that anyone gets surprised by this at all.

The entire point of a company is to make money, with the people/resources they have. More often then not what they want is not the best available to them.

Most people are horrible, managing a bunch of highly egotistic but talent people is hard.

Google One has 9.99/ month for 2TB Option. Which also comes with a VPN.

If Price is the differentiator, I think google provides the best value, but also provide additional services with their storage plans.

There are so many other trading blocs out there, why not compare them? Eu itself has some of the largest economies of the world. It does seem almost unfair.

China's large size and huge population not necessarily an automatic recipe for success. As a matter of fact, other than USA, almost of all large countries with huge population are generally economic and quality of life failures.

On the top of my minds I can think of, Russia, India, Brazil, Pakistan, Mexico all doing pretty shitty job, relatively speaking.

Are we comparing, country, population, size of region?

We often compare USA with China, but when it comes to european countries, it has to be EU?

This is an honest question, I couldn't care less about either region or gain anything financially or care about emotional internet points. I am not rooting for anyone, though I think predominantly western centric super powers is a bad idea.

But why this line of thinking and comparison, isn't it apple to oranges? Its a genuine question, despite being downvoted for whatever reason.

They have been "growing" and "becoming" the next world leader for a while now.

Anyone who have lived in india long enough will tell you how far from the truth this is.

The only Stick India has, besides their nuclear arsenal, is the size of their domestic market (aka population). I dont think the purchasing power of their domestic market is that lucrative compare to actual superpowers (Economic or Military). Buy just large enough for International companies to bother to invest.

The whole political platform for Modi is religious fanaticism, nationalosm and jingoism. Any sane, rational Indian leader would not be so Anti international investment. (I am not only talking about the incident mentioned in this article, but generally speaking).

If you can look past the billionaires and the prosperous cities of India (however few), it eirily feels like the whole country is for most part still stuck in the 80s.

Most people tout india as the largest democracy with diverse relious population. The reality on the ground could not have been farther from truth.

In reality the country feels like its always in the state of experiment by their political leaders, competing with each other to find the best way to fuck things up without actually blowing up the country. Yet.

Didn't even know he was pro-religious until you mentioned it - I was genuinely confused what he was trying to say. He never explicitly mention religion - now that you brought it up, it makes sense. I always try to shy away from religious discussion - online or offline - so this was not intentional from my side.

Becausr none of these countriest are telling you corrent mortality number. There are openly fuzzing the numbers and actively suppresing domestic jounalists with laws that protects the government from criticisms. This is atleast true for Bangladesh (where I am from), India, philipines and vietnam. To the best of my knowledge. There is absolutely no reason to believe that something magical is happening in this part of world. People are dying, infection rate extemely high. They are being highly under-reported.
