While not directly in the Thinkpad name, I have an older X1 Carbon (4th Gen) that has worked really well for me. Extensive travelling, multiple drops, etc. Thing still is solid. Runs Debian really well.

I have only ever owned Thinkpads (until the carbon) and I don't see any reason I would personally switch back to Thinkpad version. Carbons are so small and perfect for my usage.

Shopify has been down quite a bit today as well.

How many emails do you send with them? I send > 200k and interested to know what their pricing turns into in the 'Enterprise' plan.

Ah, if only this was fully available ~ 4 months ago.

I transitioned my recipe app with ~ 80,000 images from Cloudinary to a combination of Backblaze B2 + Bunny.net a few months ago. I heavily use the resizing and optimizing features.

It's saved me a ton of money, but if I could have used B2 + Cloudflare with their 0 bandwidth alliance, I could have saved more, I think - haven't done the math though.

In the grand scheme of things, though, I've worked with Bunny now and love the interface, and performance. The one time I contacted support, I spoke 1 on 1 with , I believe, the founder of Bunny. He was cool.

Cloudflare is doing some killer things, excited for that. But glad to see we have small name alternatives to everything (S3 to B2, Cloudflare to Bunny, etc) that can compete on price and functionality.

I love the idea of the loan continuing through the system for myself (I don't personally need the payback), but I'd imagine there would be some funders / loaners that would like the original system of getting paid back. Is that still a possibility?

Great write-up. I've just switched from Cloudinary to Backblaze B2 + Bunny CDN and I am saving a pretty ridiculous amount of money for hosting thousands of customer images.

Bunny has a great interface and service; I'm really surprised how little people know about it, I think I discovered it on some 'top 10 CDNs list' that I usually ignore, but the pricing was too good to pass up.

This is fantastic! I'd love it if I could pair this with an RSS aggregator to get new, plain-text recipes in my RSS feed every day/week, etc. Right now I get an RSS feed of my favourite recipe sites but have to get through so much junk to see the actual recipe.

I recently went down the rabbit hole of recipe websites while I built a little side project Shopify app for creating recipes on ecommerce stores[1]. Having a plaintext version has been on my backlog to-do list forever, but it seems the vast majority of store owners aren't keen on it. It's been a massive learning experience for me; and I never realized how... bad the recipe website experience was for so many people.

Question: how do you think we, as in us as the people building the current web, can improve the standard recipe display on the web? Obviously removing the 1300 word novel before recipes is a big plus, but what else do you think would improve your day-to-day recipe browsing?

Look towards Shopify Support Gurus. Paid well, fully remote. As a Shopify Partner I deal with them a lot and have never had a bad experience; while some can't always answer my question, I always speak to a human (24/7 via live chat) and they direct my query in the right direction.

I love the sound of this. When I was all into Ableton this was the only piano library that I used, ever. It sounds wonderful.

I like this. Maybe make the Github repo available for people to make pull requests and issues and such? That would make it much more 'crowdsourced' imo.

The freelance community is really missing some good open source / legit free software and resources, I hope more things like this pop up.

Bandcamp is one of the few companies / platforms I use that is consistently doing things right for all their users. Musicians on Bandcamp are happy and getting paid a fair amount, listeners are happy and are provided a great interface. It's just lovely.

I agree, but I'm currently stuck with a phone that is unrootable (Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL) so I'm sort of stuck.

Tutanota is cool but I like having IMAP option which is not available with them. FairMail is a great idea and I'm following development closely for it, but right now it just doesn't accomplish what I need.
