As for open-source models, have you ever tried a distilled Claude Sonnet model (lordx64/Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-Claude-4.7-Opus-Reasoning-Distilled-IQ4_XS-GGUF)? I did via Hugging Face, and they are quite shit; they are very slow and eat up your VRAM. Open-source models have a long way to go to catch up to closed models.

Very simply, you need to see VCs as branding companies who give people with many followers brand deals. VCs think that if you have a lot of stars, you must have hit product-market fit — or something close — because many developers have started using your open-source tool. Apparently, 'tokenmaxxing' is the new way of showing off how productive you are as an engineer. Honestly speaking, I don't think it's a 'flex' to have burned so many tokens on just one feature or MVP project, especially with the rate limits Anthropic is using.
