I'm curious how you are doing multithreaded in the front-end. You're talking about modifying your global state from a web worker?

My team is currently using this and I've been wondering if there are reasons to move to something like jotai or Zustand. The ergonomics of react-hooks-global-state with TS is quite nice already.

Really enjoyed this piece. Many of my developper colleagues like to boast that emotions have no place in our field. However this is going against human nature and is in my opinion futile.

I wonder how the younger generation is supposed to plan for the future? Margarine without trans fats is readily available and can be a healthier fat than butter though. But I agree the initial, high trans-fat margarines were bad. Red meat is not very hard to beat in terms of negative health outcomes, so I doubt plant-based meats will be as horrid as the initial margarine put to market.

one google Trips feature that I really loved, was it's curated day plans. Basically, each major city in the world had a nice list of day plans per city-district. I followed this guide in Barcelona, Montpellier, Nice, Marseille, New York City, Cannes and it always gave excellent recommendations. Sure it was only the very touristy spots, but it was nice to have a curated day plan for each day I was travelling. If anyone knows of anything similar please comment :)

I experienced ego death on a very high dose of pot. I suffered from DP/DR for about three years after. It's not the same. In DP/DR, you feel completely disconnected from your body and "spirit". It's really not a pleasant feeling.

thank you for writing this. It makes me reflect. As I grow older, I realize more and more than connections in life come and go. Life is really a passing of many different people in your story. Some will stay for very long while some will only be there for a short bit of time.
