I didn't think that there was something wrong with my git workflow, or that git was complicated. I switched from darcs as my primary VCS to git around 2007. I was skeptical about jj at first but gave it a try. Did not look back ever since.

My impression is, that git is ok for managing shared history. And thats what i was using it for mostly. But jj added another whole dimension for managing my work in progress, different paths of code that i am working on in the moment. jj made it almost frictionless. I did not know I was missing it, but i'm not going back.

It is a great metaphor. Nine out of ten applications of the tolerance paradox do not pass the fire poker test. One needs a certain level of enlightenment and maturity of judgement to apply it, otherwise it can turn into metooism, mob behavior and plain hypocrisy.

It is Hortus Malabaricus, it is in latin and its not really ancient, it was published in late 17-th century.

That is exactly my experience with imperial in woodworking!

I had no previous experience with imperial measurements, my country is metric for over a hundred years, but the majority of information on woodworking on the internet or in print comes from English speaking countries that use imperial units in woodworking almost exclusively. So instead of trying to translate everything to metric I bought an imperial tape measure and a set of rulers. Since then I switched most of my woodworking measurements to imperial, because it just very convenient and makes much more sense when building items that will be used by humans. Chairs, tables, cabinets, chests, even guitars.

If a big part of the nominations is obviously politically motivated, should the others get the tea or the poker?

If you put a rotten egg by accident into an 20 egg omlett, it is still spoiled.
