I don’t think the second part (about length of the train) is accurate at all. Yes, a train made of pods roughly car sized would be longer, but only roughly 3x. If you look at the duty cycle of say BART rail, you could fit a lot more than 3x trains on it. The rail is empty most of the time.

Heh - I'm using ChatGPT for the same thing! Works 10X better than Rocket Money, which was supposed to be an improvement on Mint but meh.

I live on a street in Berkeley that was not red-lined, so it has single family homes and fourplexes. It’s great, we love it. You can choose to be miserable but it’s got nothing to do with whether your neighbors can afford a home.

The first time I used DuoLingo, I was just trying to get through the tree, without really learning, and that was useless. Now I have a different technique: I’ll only listen (never read), and if I can’t comprehend and respond immediately, I’ll fail that exercise deliberately, so I’ll be re-tested later. For me, I only understand the language if I can understand some one speaking to me and respond in real time.

I think the lesson is, avoid rewrites and don’t break apart your monorepo; have teams improve the platform while your product engineers go full-steam ahead. Compare with Twitter which spent 2 years in the woods rewriting to Java while FB kept growing, giant ball of PHP and all.
