One thing worth noting: LIDAR is primarily optimized for fast AF and low-light focusing rather than generating full-res depth maps.

Honestly I have to side with Mozilla team here. Kudos to them for trying to actually care about security and privacy. I can imagine the nightmare that people are submitting and trying to recheck everything and build those random extensions with private npm repos and whatnot.
I would say the opposite is true - mainstream cares much less about the quality content but more about catchy headline.

There are actually already fields like that. Look at the ones in China or the US. Scaling it up is the next step.
