I love stories like this. A subtle reminder how inconsequential our actions are on this planet in the grand, unplanned scheme. I just pre-ordered the 4K UHD remaster of The Sopranos, and while on the Gruv site I saw another UHD remaster of a movie I enjoy and ordered it. I am excited to experience this (haven't watched physical media in forever), but I was planning on using my PS5. My research also confirms that standalone players are legit, but they are more expnsive than I figured! I guess I'll give one a try and hope this isn't another addiction...

I'll avoid going during super busy times (which is always) but if the meal calls for tortillas I am going to HEB.

I read a book this year about sports gambling in the US [1], and it points out how nasty and predatory it is. I think "prediction markets" have even less regulation? I would talk to my sports fan buddies at work and they would say "oh, just how sportsbooks in Vegas operate already", but this is on-demand, in your face, constantly nudging you to bet with dark patterns and "comps". I used to want sports gambling legal in the US, but the way it has gone is incredibly disgusting and is starting to make watching sports almost annoying. The crawl on the bottom is no longer scores, but moneylines...

I've had it for nearly 20 years, and I know it came from an incident shooting firearms with not enough (none) protection. Most days I don't think about it anymore. However if I am tired or stressed, it seems to turn up to 11. I've read many people get depressed or they can't get over it, luckily I seem to deal with it alright, but wouldn't wish it on anyone. Protect your hearing!

What a crazy coincidence... I had not been to the Kimbell art musesum that is only about 20 minutes away from me in many years. We had a family outing this weekend to go see the Torlonia Collection exhibit there and this painting was just sitting there in their permanent collection! I even got to listen to the guided tour group that happened to be at that painting as I was walking by.

I always thought that a lot of the riders on these had back issues or something else that would make a long ride on a normal bicycle painful or hard to do.

My strategy forever is to wash all my shirts, put them in the dryer on low for 5 minutes, then hang them all up in a doorway overnight. My clothes last much longer this way and never get wrinkled.
