As a former staunch Republican, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that both parties have sold us out. I disagree with a lot of the Left's policies and many on the Right as well, but both parties advocate, in theory, for several things that would benefit all Americans -- yet it never happens. Republicans advocate for fiscal responsibility -- never happens. Democrats advocate for things like healthcare and cancelling student loans -- never happens. The Democrats held the House, Senate, and Presidency in 2021 for two years. The Republicans currently hold the House, Senate, and Presidency right now.

They're in power for themselves and their disregard for us is by design.

I think you're right. Regarding my view on US vs. Eastern Europe, I think you're also right and your words changed my perspective. I think I was being inconsiderate in my assessment in that just because cultures are different, doesn't mean this person in that given country will actually help you more than that other person.

As you said, I'm literally experiencing "nice" people that are talking behind my back right now, so yeah, that definitely says something, as well.

Now that I think of it, there's people who are nice to me, but because they seem aloof at times, they rub me the wrong way. I could very well be that with to others; I see myself as nice, they see me as having no substance.

Your last two paragraphs really slapped me in the face too, in a good way. When I think about it that way, it really does change how I view other people talking negative about me. People talk negative about me? Cool, I'll be someone who you can count on never being that way towards them.

It's kind of crazy when someone has an outlier experience and then tries to frame an entire country as being that way.

I've experienced a lot of cultures, countries, and environments. The United States is KNOWN for being a friendly country of people who will talk to you and smile at you for "no reason" other than because Americans are friendly.

Go to many countries in Europe or even Russia, you'll experience the exact oppositive. If you smile at people or talk to a stranger, you will essentially be treated as if something is wrong with you.

Everyone knows this is true about the US. Your comment is clearly trying to portray the United States in a negative light with something that is entirely not true.

As an employee, we take part in charting the course for the business, but businesses have owners, and they have the ultimate say. A nation does not have owners. A nation has citizens, which is why democracy makes sense in a nation, but not a business; although loosely speaking, putting things to a vote when it's appropriate is not a bad thing. But no employee is entitled to that unless it is directly related to the scope of his or her employment.

Ultimately, you are conflating two different worlds: private enterprise and politics. They are two separate things; two separate animals; with two separate natures.

The job market sucks right now, but mostly for white collar. Out of touch would be for me to say that a software developer or data engineer would not struggle to find a job right now.

Hospitality, trades, retail, and most working class jobs are much more stable right now.

Again, if someone is making $15 bucks an hour at McDonald's, I promise you that there is a job paying just as much in another industry that they could start within two weeks.
