Nuclear fision reactors safety technology have moved further. There are challenges, but we havent even tried to solve them fully (as we were busy improving gas burning efficiency)

I am not from US, but what I see from my experience there is one huge problem with mergers (besides all other): too big to fail. If you become systematical player like big banks and if you intentionally or non-intentionally get in trouble. You will be bailed out, not go bankrupt. This turns on God mode for Corporations, this create intention become reckless. If big banks would not be bailled out in 2008. Most likely we would see at least some kind of fragmetation.

I live in Europe. Most notable substitution for Nuclear is Green Russian gas. I see this decission each month in my heating bill. Renewables is cool, but u know there is winters in Europe. As gas storages are not full here and our comrades from East wants to get nordstream2 certified, they are pressing with not delivering additional capabilities. As there are no serious alternatives still. I would be really happy if there would be enough capacity of decentralized green energy, but there are not. Nuclear is one of patches what we have got in our hands to live thru Fussion and/or enough capacity trully green energy. All other is lyrics

Let’s face it, if you are rich you have become rich somehow or stayed rich ( even harder than first one) you probably understand risk management. What we have got here: you are lending your capital to folks who are less rich (much less trustworthy). Why you are lending to them if risk relatively is pretty high? Actually, its not student loans in most of civilized society is backed by government programs, mortgages is backed by GSEs. You can land money with relatively no risk at all. I am oversimplify but, many problems comes from politician will “help little people/protect little people” or called aswell “to get elected or reelected”. Our friends in government puts incentives to lend money to consumption without almost risk. And I am from Europe/Baltics. We have got our own “helpful programmes”. Like government agency lends you downpayment for mortgage with pretty barbaric rate. So what happened, default downpayment have gone up from 10% to 15-20% to get skin in the game from lender. Who suffers the most? Those who have got these 10% for downpayment.

Someone, already, mentioned Argo tool family. I have got very good experience coupling argocd and argo workflows. Its not so advanced (from workflow side) as Airflow, but works as pretty good. There is always option to fallback to Rundeck and folks from older times

Don't abuse CI/CD system as workflow automation tool. There are better and much easier alternatives.

Probably not possible to describe. Jenkins is just tool, if used wrong it will bite to operators. Problem with jenkins is that it's takes time to setup workflow. You configure to run plugin-install-tool, JaaC, Jobdsl, Shared Libs, some credential store etc. But when it's up and running, oh boy, it's factory. I have run jenkins with 5k+ jobs. All auto gen, no manual interventions etc. Gitlab-CI (same as github actions) I like due opinionated approach. It makes things easier if setup is simple, but when you need exceptions or special cases, hack's begins.

But, yes, I have seen so many badly implemented jenkinses.

I have never understood kubernetes development in local development workflow unless kubernetes functionality being developed or some yaml magic. It’s super overhead IMHO. If needed to test api’s as unit test you can always port-forward traffic of desired enpoint or use something like telepresence. Less kubernetes is always better
