I don't know the technical details but for me and everybody else I ever recommended it always fixes the stutters. Multiple ISPs and computers were tested too. Maybe it's because I'm not from the US?

One thing I'm sure is that it uses way less CPU and helps with my ISP throttling because anything 720p60 and above is a problem if I'm using a browser.

There are options to modify the buffer, reconnect and more but I almost never change my config except for hls-live-edge like once a year (for something that is not Twitch).

unless you're talking about mobile you can use streamlink (or livestreamer) + mpv (or vlc) and all your problems will go away

These people wouldn't pay no matter what you do so it's not really relevant. I'm talking about people who resort to piracy because they can't pay to get what they want. Or the value just isn't justifiable.

For example, I feel cheated when I have to wait months for content to be available in my country. Sometimes years (or not ever). So I go and download some torrent since I can't buy the content anyway. And now I'm one of the numbers on their spreadsheets.

If licensing is broken or too hard to manage, they should spent the money fixing that instead of going after "pirates".

Does it even matter when the people using these numbers will distort the facts anyway?

(this may not apply that much to books but most types of content are usually filled with DRM garbage, region restrictions, usually have worse quality and distribution methods, and they pretend to not understand why people choose to pirate it)

A year ago I implemented JSON-LD using Google's documentation and validator on a brand new website. Months later, it had zero impact on the results and it didn't even picked up the city, only after I added it to the footer that results started changing (like "business + city").

I'm using https://www.inoreader.com to manage my YouTube subscriptions. You don't need a Google account or API key (isn't that basically the same as being logged in?). There's a small delay for updates but it's really amazing.

I'm not affiliated with Inoreader but I've tried to make them appear on the front page here without success. Unfortunately I don't see anyone talking about them.

No matter your opinion about the subject at least we are talking about it now and from what I can tell he's going to make a more reproducible test with a script so we can all tear it to pieces.

If not, I hope someone else do it. Even better if it's somebody with the proper credentials some of you all are requiring (from a freaking tweet).

It would be nice if you could provide the script you're using in your tests (instead of using the GUI) and the ISO checksum, so people can review it.

The fact that they renamed the telemetry setting from "Off" to "Security" is no coincidence.

Since the first release of W10 several registry keys and policies have changed in very confusing ways. I can't remember what exactly but I had to change my personal scripts several times based on the changelog of other tools. Privacy and settings like default apps were also reverted (reset to default) when you updated. They installed some apps like Candy Crush Saga on Enterprise. I don't see that much of a problem here, it's understandable since they are letting go of legacy stuff, bugs happens (even more after you cut your QA department). Now it's time to stop with all the excuses. Get your shit together.

I wish they had some "race to the bottom" price option for small side projects, with free custom domain and letsencrypt support. Something to compete with the $5 VPSs (soon to be the $3 VPSs).

Right now I rent a large server to host multiple things because I don't like the limitations of their free tier. There's something very elegant about having all your "apps" isolated and with their own settings but the price must be just right. I really enjoyed using Heroku (for a client) because maintaining my own servers, even for hobby stuff, feels like such a waste of time.

Doesn't look anything like Digg/MySpace days unless they somehow find a way to kill the "smaller" communities. Even the outbound click thing (or the new frontpage) didn't made any real impact from what I can tell.

But who knows, maybe you're right and someone comes up with a killer feature. Or an UI that doesn't suck so bad that you need a mandatory browser extension (that fries your CPU).

Like I said, it was just an example. I don't have the time or knowledge to review an entire custom ISO and after that another ISO from the Gapps provider that I choose. I'm sure there are some tricks to cut down the review process time but anyway.

It's a trade-off. I'm installing custom software to improve security, but at the same time, can I trust that this solution won't be a source of malware?

I hope this didn't came out as accusatory, I was just trying to show another aspect of using custom ROMs.
