I would argue that with the rise of coding and debugging agents, the AI data centers provide (or will in the near future) even more benefit than a car factory, in terms of digital infrastructure. These technologies are just a lot more invisible so we don't realize how important they are.

I think AI bug scanning is a good thing, it will ensure almost all high severity get caught before entering prod. There can certainly be downsides but I am personally all for it.

All this would do is drive criminals to poorer countries that can't stop crime as well. Just like many scammers being based in South Asia, or billionaires moving their money to tax havens. It just takes one country to allow this stuff or at least not stop it, and your treaties are just pieces of paper.

Remember, most people don't care as much as you or I. If they're going to buy a laptop to do taxes or web browsing or something, they will probably be mentally biased towards an Intel-based chip. Because it's been marketed for so long, AMD comparatively seems like a super new brand.

A lot of people on this thread are underestimating how much of a hold Intel has on the chips industry. In my experience, Intel is synonymous with computer chip for the average person. Most people wouldn't be able to tell you what AMD does differently, they'd just say they're a knockoff Intel. Technologically, both companies are neck and neck. But for the average person, it's not even close.

Just thought you might know - Apple added a new feature in the latest MacOS update that does the same thing. It's called Video Viewer and you can turn it on when a video is playing by clicking the icon that looks like the rectangle with two lines under it.

Yours is seamless and you don't have to turn it on every time, though.

Seems to be sort of a tourist attraction now. The nearest road is about 55 miles away according to the measuring tool on google maps. There's several nature preserves/parks in the area that protect the site. I guess people hike to it now.

I mean, you could have just made a quick proxy with a little express server to get around this anyways. But I shouldn't be complaining, it's good that they did this.

I really think it would be cool if Google started being more open about their SEO policies. Projects like this use 100,000 sites to try to discover what Google does, when Google could just come right out and say it, and it would save everyone a lot of time and energy.

The same outcome is gonna happen either way, Google will say what their policy is, or people will spend time and bandwidth figuring out their policy. Either way, Google's policy becomes public.

Google could even come out and publish stuff about how to have good SEO, and end all those scammy SEO help sites. Even better, they could actively try to promote good things like less JS when possible and less ads and junk. It would help their brand image and make things better for end users. Win-win.

They can't pay everyone $102M, that's the market cap (the total value of all stock shares added together). In terms of profit, it is only worth $2M.

I think it's clear that Boeing, ULA, and all of the "old guard" space companies are still trying to catch up to the disruption from SpaceX and the ensuing boom of innovation that followed it. Let's face it - Starliner would not have even been thought of without SpaceX bringing competition. They were caught flat footed and had to scramble to catch up. Now we see the results of that - a capsule that's only partly baked.

The best possible thing would be an open-source satellite constellation which everyone could route data through.

Though, that wouldn't happen due to the US business environment, and the government would have to run the whole thing (and they're not known for being amazing at this kind of stuff)

It was always a distraction for them. Apple couldn't add anything real to cars that other manufacturers did not have.

A possible solution could be to geolocate the user's IP address (I know, they could use a VPN or something but for 99% of users it would work) or simply ask for location permissions and then have a database of time offsets mapped into geographical space. Cloudflare being compromised would be enormous. Something between 5 and 25% of all sites use CF in some fashion. An attacker could literally hold the internet hostage.

The LLM that powers this is surprisingly well trained (for what it is doing). I don't know if it's using a pre-existing one, but if you open dev tools and find the api you can play around with any combination of things.

Just as an example, I put in "Protestant" and "Spiritual Experiences" and it gave "Pentecostal" which is exactly right, and I didn't expect it to know that. Now I have to find how to get that in the game.
