Is Ashby much better at the hiring workflow than Notion?

I’m a Notion Consultant. I usually avoid hourly work but when I do some coaching/training sometimes. In that case, I charge between $300 and $1000 session (60 to 90 mins).

I don't know much about the space but if you're just starting out, I'd pay attention to two interesting companies: 1. https://www.synthesis.com (productizing Elon Musk school) 2. https://primer.com (community for home schooled kids)

There's missing link between visual design tools (Figma etc.) and documentation tools (Notion etc.). Yes, you can embed Figma into Notion but that's where the interconnectedness ends.

I think it's very important for a smooth workflow.

it's a long awaited update for the Notion community. Beyond the timeline view, they introduced the ability to hide database properties in card view, so that doesn't obstruct content, which btw, adding content to a database record in a vertical UI is one of the best Notion features, so they made it so much nicer.

yeah, sometimes I feel that the FS template is an overkill that's why I delete prompts often. Maybe it's a good idea to create a "simple decision" template.

timely as i’m about to figure out how to host online courses for my productivity coaching business. your explanation makes a lot of sense. from a podcast with austin alred of lambda school, i heard that live courses boosted engagement dramatically.

pre-recorded content is attractive because it’s one and done and doesn’t require management beyond occasionally updating. a bunch of creators are looking to decouple time from income. productivity youtuber with sub 1mil followers is making 1k+ per month from one course on skillshare.

since pre-recorded stuff is passive income vs live presentation is active, i think it would be helpful for you to communicate the monetary (hopefully positive) impact of doing live courses versus a pre-recorded ones.

cool! this can be really good for creating internal company or customer portals similar to the glide. it's always a pain to onboard new teammates or users to built out google sheets the logic/thinking is obscured and hard to learn.

I just started actively consulting two months ago. So far, 8 projects and five clients.

Before doing this, I built a pretty strong startup network in New York City. Through starting a company and running an entrepreneurship club at New York Univesity, I got to know a lot of relevant people on the scene. entrepreneurs, investors and community builders. Once I was sharing with people that I was working on. I got introductions to potential clients. My biggest client right now is a person whom I knew from the first year at the University.

If you are good at hosting events or bringing up ir target audience together, I would suggest looking into that.

I failed a business after nearly three years. I thought that it was a great idea and invested $50,000 of my father's money. I got lucky in many ways because I started it in college and didn't have rent or family matters on the line. That said, closing it down really sucked. I feel like there are still some loose threads between myself and teammates — we never closed the loop on some things, so make sure you do that. Otherwise, it will bother you for a long time.

To bounce back, I focused on the opportunities that this experience has instead brought me. I realized that I got deeply involved with the entrepreneurship community on campus. I channeled all my energy to help others start companies and avoid the mistakes that I have done. This, in turn, led to more work opportunities at accelerators and organizations that support startups.

After working for about a year I gained new perspectives and experiences which pointed me to a new idea that I am currently pursuing. The "circle of startup" if you will :)

One of the best frameworks that starting my first company helped me develop is finding "problem/solution fit". Of course, that depends on your past business and experience. Personally, I became more sensitive to noticing problems and realizing that I could solve them with technology.
