They eventually stop, Excel has a max column size of 16,384. Not sure what letter combo that would be (ZZZZZZZZZZ or something?), but it does eventually halt.
This is pretty fun! I'd suggest having the spellcheck suggestions not pop up correct answers (I typed "Ireland" and it asked if I meant Iceland, which was one of the answers I hadn't gotten to yet). And, for that matter, I'm not really sure why Ireland was wrong. I thought maybe it was because it shares its island with NI, but the DR shares its island with Haiti and DR was accepted.
I like honey pretty well, but I have no idea how I'd go through 6 pails of it a year. Did you use it in your coffee and also put it on toast every morning or something?
You can easily download a rendered chart by using the chart's getDataURL() function. Then just create a new element in your document and set that element's href to the return from getDataURL() and bob's your uncle.
There's actually LESS genetic diversity in a single breeding population than in two separate ones. When you have two, they can drift in different directions or be subject to different selection pressures. With just one, all of that stuff is swamped out.
There's a general guideline called the 50-500 rule. You need at least 50 animals to avoid immediate inbreeding (and also stochastic extinction from a fire or flood or disease etc), and about 500 to have a genetically healthy population. That varies some after a bottleneck event since your genetic population will be functionally less than your actual physical one, but it's a decent way to approach the problem.
I am 100% for letting him buy companies that lose billions of dollars per year and have no path towards profitability anytime soon. The more the merrier!
The budgets for all these agencies have congressional oversight. Additionally, there's an entire agency devoted to making sure there's a minimum of grift, the GAO. For example, here's a recent report they did on NASA's large projects:
Marrone said the FBI is now planning to come to the area with what he called “aerial armor” to make sure no further drones can fly in the firefighting area.
Thank goodness. Maybe they have some way to track emissions back to the source too, every one of these doofuses needs arresting.
I've always wondered why the Japanese didn't do the same thing in reverse. There's gotta be some tiny languages from small ethnic groups on the islands. At the time, it's not like we could have gone and looked up the words in a dictionary somehow. Even without it being encoded, it would have worked pretty well. And yet they didn't even think about it, as far as I know.
Alasdair posted this clip on bluesky, where I saw it. In the comments, Art UK had posted this article as a reply. Once I clicked through, I knew it would be exactly what HN would appreciate, and here we are.
In terms of the origins of the app, Google told me “this is not an Android platform nor Pixel vulnerability, this is an apk developed by Smith Micro for Verizon in-store demo devices and is no longer being used. Exploitation of this app on a user phone requires both physical access to the device and the user's password.”
If an attacker has your phone and your password, it's game over anyway, who cares if some random app could allow MITM connections over HTTP.
In related news, if you've ever wondered how good Bill Gates is at poker, he played a little with some locals from Kemmerer while there for the groundbreaking.
At first I thought maybe this was showing that I'm way less good at JS than I thought I was. But after thinking about it some more, I'm still fine at JS. All my sites work just fine. My clients are seemingly happy with them and I get paid for it. Instead, I'm just not good at the weird edge cases that nobody actually ever hits, which is what all these questions are!
(that being said, I do roll my eyes every time I have to clear out an array by doing myarray.length = 0 instead of myarray = []. JS is such a silly language sometimes.)
I'm not even Australian, but thanks to Wake In Fright, even I know gambling in AUS is something guaranteed to strip you of your civility and turn you into an outback maniac:
