While I agree with you I really don't understand what this has to do with Apple. Apple didn't even get mentioned by the author of article.
What is that people try to mention Apple in every situation?

It could be way more popular if these wouldn't be called 'condoms'. Some people can get offended and wont buy it even if it would be useful.
Just my 2 cents.
This is genius!
I don't use Windows and I also don't use Google Drive but why on earth does it crash so often?
This is one of the reasons Why left the programming community. People are not thankful. Even if you release a great idea - with obviously _not_ the best code - the one thing you get is criticism. Maybe also the words that "you are the worst programmer on earth" following the words that "you put your family in such a shame".
You know what programmers think because of such comments? "My code is so bad I can't release it. Even if the idea is good." And this Sir helps no-one.
Stop this shit.
I don't mean to be that guy but it's called Windows Marketplace not Windows App Store.
Turkey is very interesting in such things. I live in Germany and my parents live in Turkey. No bank in Germany would even think about such things but in I can't shake off the feeling that they just do it. Another cool thing my cousins told me is that they can send each other cash from mobile phone to mobile phone. Say I don't have money on my prepaid card and my friends have enough and don't use it, they just can send couple of bucks to my phone.
I mean I don't use a prepaid card but I think it is awesome! As a student this is a great option!
I hope we see more of this kind of rule breaking things from around the world. Sometimes it feels like the people in the world are getting more and more afraid of change which breaks "common rules". Money transferring is one such crazy issue.
There is no phone which has everything you need. Everyone has different aspects of things. Maybe the iPhone doesn't fit you. Why don't you buy an WP7/8 if it has those features?
I don't understand what this discussing is helping. It doesn't have one and I'm pretty sure it will never have a dedicated button. I can understand why Apple is not going the way others are going. This is a phone not a dedicated camera, so why would you mix these things? I know the camera these days are pretty good and a lot of people are using only their phones to point-and-shot but I think it would and it is (on different phones) feels wrong to have dedicated button for camera.
This is all my opinion. Others do different views but this mine. I respect every other view.
It's not that bad for Apple cause if you copy Apple you will never be better than Apple itself. Think about it. You can't win Apples own game. You could win if you would come up with something better BUT if everybody is busy copying who will do exactly that? Don't get me wrong I'm not talking about hardware specs.
It is bad for everybody because a) if this trend goes on there will be no "different" products anymore and everything will at some point look like it comes from Apple and b) there will be no competition at all. Competition is good for a industry. Even Apple needs some competition to get better and better.
I didn't get angry because someone copied Apple but that someone would say that old people like my would need new glasses if they couldn't differentiate both machines. This arrogant and offensive at the same time. What makes you say something like that? Not everyone knows everything about technology. My Dad is 67 and I know he couldn't distinguish those machines but that is ok. He doesn't need to.
HN is not Digg or Youtube comments.
Comparing the design of a toaster with the Mac Pro design is not the same thing as comparing the design of a standalone PC with a standalone Mac. Especially if the company who copies had much different design before "everyone started copying Apple".
Inspiration is one thing but copying even the keyboard, mouse and the trackpad is a bit too much, don't you think? PC makers seem so desperate at the moment...
That makes it even worse. This whole "X is not copying Apple" is getting ridiculous at HN...
Your point is ridiculous! I'm so angry at the moment... How can people say something like this... I don't get it. Non-tech-guys don't see such little differences. Especially if they are bit older. They just don't care and often people wouldn't even see the HP logo on the bezel either. They don't care. It looks like an iMac, which saw in a TV ad and want to buy one. Plus if the best buy guy says it is the same thing they will believe your words cause they don't know better.
It's not even about design but also about marketing budget which Apple pays for it's products. With copying the design, you even get the marketing for free...
I hate to say this but at the moment the whole PC / Tablet industry is copying Apple. And this nothing good at all. Not for Apple and not for everyone else!
I use this theme since I ever saw it in every editor or alike I use (Zsh, Xcode, Vim, Sublime Text 2) and I'm really happy with it! The colors IMO are more distinguishable than on solarized but this seems to be a matter of taste. Just try it out if you are looking for a new theme.
BTW: as many mentioned it is awesome that the theme is available for so many editors!
Edit: Should have mentioned that I use always that Tomorrow Night Eighties theme
It's a shame that a 'article' with so little information makes on the frontpage of HN. These days the headline needs just to name Apple and it is guaranteed to show up on the frontpage.
I wonder if someone could write a plugin to just ban all Apple news from HN.
Edit: typo.
I was successful with a prepaid credit card with US dollar as the currency. Just go to entropay.com, create a credit card and put some money on it.
Thank you! This worked for me and you can find addresses and phone numbers on http://www.realusaaddress.com/
I think Googles plans to manufactor in the USA died with the Nexus Q. No one will buy something which is three times more expensive than competitiv products. In addition no one did care about the Nexus Q being made in the USA after seeing that price (300$).
And the sad thing is: it worked. They even broke sales records with it. And it seems that not even one of the biggest brands can stop one of the biggest copycat.
If I had a startup and would work on a great product and some company would just copy my ideas and would break records? I would go crazy.
This is the thing I hate about HN guys: when it comes to the discussing Samsung vs. Apple nearly all members seem to close there eyes plus minds and just say "I don't see what Apple is talking about. I don't see any attempt to copy or something which got copied".
Did you even see the document? The document clearly shows that they compared nearly every feature and what needs to be done to improve their feature to work like the competition. This is like when BMW would analyze a Mercedes and say "We need to exactly work and look like a BMW. Let's have a look what we need to do to work and look like a BMW".
This document isn't about the defacto standard. This is not about how users are working with their phones and what can be improved to get a better experience with a Samsung product. This is not about analyzing how you do against a strong competitor.
This is just: Let's copy the strongest competitor on the market and we are good to go. And this exact thing is a shame and it is even a bigger shame that no one wants to admit that there is something fishy going on here!
Just stop fucking copying and start developing own good products.
This is exactly what I'm trying to say when it comes to the discussing "Samsung had to copy the iPhone cause it is the defacto standard". It is not. Nothing should be a standard. Apple didn't copy Nokia even if Nokia was the defacto standard and the bestelling phone maker. It is not okay to just copy products and earn a fortune with it. I genuinely believe that Apple invested millions of dollars into the UX of the iOS platform and letting people just copy it would be a shame and just the wrong thing.
Why can't Samsung just come up with it's own ideas? Why was there no S-Voice before Siri? Why is the Galaxy line pretty much the only Android Smartphone with a home button? Why do Samsung product packages (!!) look nearly the same as Apple?
Even if people like Samsung or hate Apple they have to admit that something fishy is going on here.
With Mountain Lion 10.8 Flash is still the same like before those APIs were released. I think Adobe just don't cares about it. I really I can't the strategy behind it. Flash at its best times was nearly on every PC and Mac why is that they didn't want to improve the quality of their app.
I don't want to listen (to customers and developers) you need to feel it.
They add every year new features to the language like blocks and a lot more which is currently under NDA so I can't tell.
Why do you assume that Apple isn't working on his language? They are heavily developing it!
Why shouldn't it be? Only cause people don't like it doesn't mean it is a bad thing... You don't have to put all your efforts and insights in blog posts!
This is Apple culture at its best: No one ever talks about it. All employees are so loyal to this company that you can't even imagine one speaking about such insights.
Sure 100 engineers would come up with the idea "slide to unlock". After you see and use something it's always easier to find this said solution. BUT before Apple it seems that none of the 100 engineers you mentioned came up with the idea and it was never build and that means it was never obvious before Apple created it.
Saying things are obvious after someone already invented a dead simple and good solution for a problem we had for years is always easy.
EDIT: Grammer.
5 years of iOS work and the only thing you can find is "notification center"? It's not even a copy. It's not close to what it is on Android.
I just stop here. It doesn't make any sense to argue about this anymore. I just hope this copying just stops and everyone can have it's own innovative feature and not copied crap!
AFAIK you would voice assistant in Android 4.1 which is damn similar what Apple introduced with Siri. I really can't understand how some people can just ignore the fact that there happens a big stolen product here. How on earth will you argue that Google has now a similar voice assistant like Siri without copying Siri. You don't want to say it is coincendence, do you?
People always claim Apple had stolen from Android too but they never can give any evidence. What did Apple copy from Android which become a major selling factor? Copy paste? No. Multi touch? No. Multitasking? No. App Store? Hello no!
Please just tell me how entrepreneurs all seem to hate Apple because Apple just fighting for there right. The right to say: Hey if you want to make a product, but don't just copy our product!
Apple didn't sued Microsoft over WP7 cause they didn't just copy The iPhone. They found something new. Something different. But Android And Google just trying to copy the hell of iOS as much as possible.
EDIT: This has nothing to do with being a die-hard Apple guy. Everyone should have the right to fight copy cats. Or would like it that your product is getting copied and you as a the creator earn just nothing from it at all. Not even the respect that it was your idea and your product.
You are all way to biased about the whole thing. Thing about it. They just freaking copied Siri. Would you feel cool if someone else just copies your innovative product feature. Apple has all right to sue them and get them blocked.
You can hate my comment. You can down vote me. You can hate Apple as much as you like but all of you know before there was iPhone and iPad there was nothing close to any of it. So how can anyone say all other companies aren't copying? Eric Schmidt just stole every inch of the iPhone...
