the author of the study? albert einstein.

(lmao if you are actually talking about that janky wash post "study")

no, it's not open source. beyond basic things like amending the styling primitives to be aligned with our aesthetic: - missing primitives (toasts/cards/stacks/inline editable fields/alerts/chips/inputs, etc) - domain heavy components (eg, autocomplete, charts, in our case FHIR renderers) - app systems (eg, i built an actioncable like system which has realtime support for dioxus)

... his whole point was that people don't want to live in cities, which is just factually incorrect. just baseless, pointless idiocy that is just par for the course on HN these days.

i've recently built a very complex healthcare application in dioxus and it's been a tremendous joy to work with. right now it's web-only, but the app does run fine as a desktop app when we need it.

having SSR built in means that the UX is amazing - really complex pages load basically instantly, and it degrades just as easily for folks that haven't loaded the WASM. server functions were also fantastic to work with and easy to reason about. and, the hot reloading they built means that most UX changes are reloaded within a ~few seconds, meaning iterating is fast and (mostly) painless.

the native component library dioxus has (dioxus-primitives) is... sparse so i did have to build out a hundred or so basic components, but i've done that across various stacks 5-6 times now over my career so it's a fun little journey at this point. for the components they do provide, the quality bar is very good.

hmm all of my assumptions have been wildly correct and you are just further confirming it. good stuff my dude. sorry you choose a place like that to live. sounds miserable.

i'll be sure to wave at the other drivers next time i'm in town in a zoox or waymo and then go back to doing literally anything else than driving.

oh the humanity, maybe on the order of a few minutes. that changes nothing. we should be inconveniencing human drivers more, if anything.

that you feel obligated to use words like "sophistry" tells me everything i need to know about you.

heartless society is when someone has to wait at a red light for a few more seconds. and yes, enumerating a set of silly non-law "rules" you expect drivers on the road to follow is the definition of entitlement.

as a threads user since the beginning and a big fan of the platform, my answer is strongly "no."

which is my favorite reason to be there and i hope it doesn't change.

it's full of instagram and facebook users, which to use the common parlance, are all "normies." it's full of normal people have normal opinions in small spaces. there's very little viral posts or bits or memes that are carried outwards.

that being said dril started posting again there recently as have some other bigger ex weird twitter people so who knows.

i just went on, searched bsky for variants of ai/llm/generative, and literally did not see one positive post after scrolling for several minutes (beyond some boring generative art slop, which isn't really "positive" imo).

it seems just the same sycophancy, but in the opposite way twitter is.

maybe my searches were poor so i'm curious what you see that is in any way "positive"; even given your example, searching for ai + cancer is just thousands of posts with some variant of "ai is a cancer."

it's so single note that it's no wonder that growth for bluesky has plummeted. it's just boring.

well it was a mix of word and markdown files being converted before; converting the word files was somewhat annoying but iirc i exported them and converted those. i wrote all the custom styling we used; pretty straightforward

i switched all of our pdf generation to typst - fantastic software. love how efficient it is; it makes previewing trivial and iteration very fast.

one of my favorite games growing up; fascinating to read the history and inspiration for such a great game.

i love that one of my favorite parts of the game (designing your own units) was the game designers' least favorite parts. hah!

i never read the pandora sequence that inspired it - thank you for sharing this article!
