It's the french open. There's always been a bug with google search where sometimes I have to search 'french open' or 'australian open' twice to get it to give me the google scores. That bug still exists, sometimes it just brings up the site, but now it will also sometimes just go into AI mode and it will refuse to get out of it. Like even when you click for otherwise, it will force its way back.

The google live scores is a great feature. But when it's not coming up, even googling "french open google live scores" doesn't just bring it up every single time. It might if you try, but try multiple times over the day...

Zero shot you'd make it an hour in a proper sauna for an hour. People have this idea that saunas are always enjoyable. I sauna daily, and its nice up to a point. For me thats like 10-12mins in. From then on, its tough.

I’m a YouTube premium subscriber. Just yesterday I found myself opening a private window to watch a video with ads, rather than letting the algorithm know I was watching the video on my account. Even if I remove the video from my watch history, YouTube can’t help itself. You make a great point on stale content and the overall enshittification is becoming intolerable.

There isn’t any sort of standard for recording public meetings. I’ve seen everything mic less live streams with obstructed cameras to well curated flawless back and forth with great audio and transcripts. Meeting to meeting it can vary.

If I click I’m not interested on every short presented to me and I’ve never watched a short, why can’t YouTube get the point? At least give us the option to remove them. I don’t deal with the translation issue but not giving you the option is what is beyond frustrating for me.

Where I live, if I don’t shop at fancy grocery stores 30-40min away, it’s generous to call the produce ‘produce’. Literally never knew onions could look this bad. A lot of the citrus is like deflated in the inside, the bananas are trash, and a single bell pepper is $3. I could go on and on. Just think we enshittified the food situation and now it’s more expensive and way worse quality.

One of my handful of follows puts out multiple 2 hour videos a day sometimes, almost every day. I hardly watch, but I always throw it on and let it play through, and will replay it on mute while doing other things, just so this guy with 1.8k views is getting a bigger share of my youtube premium money. I don't participate in the channel, like I said, I really hardly watch, but monthly I have been getting free memberships to his channel since I started doing it.

I've lived in the area I live in for over 30 years. It's in a rural area. Last year I was walking in the woods and I came across a bald eagle on the ground eating something. I was probably 10 feet from it when it flew away. I saw 2 when I was golfing last summer. And then just a couple of months ago I saw another flying above my car after eating something near the road.

I had never seen a bald eagle before these encounters.

The other issue is American quality has gone down the tank. 10-15 years ago I’d look for American quality over Chinese, but nowadays I prefer the Chinese manufacturer almost 100% of the time. Not always the case but anecdotally chinas quality has gotten better while American stuff has gotten worse.

This reminds me of when I was in HS. There was a auto car wash that would print a number on a receipt for one to enter and get a carwash with. One day for whatever reason I just punched in 12 random numbers and it worked. And thats how I got free car washes all through high school...

Nothing drives me more nuts than them showing commercials during the changeover, coming back at 30-0 and then showing the replay of the drama from what went down during the changeover.

When I watch a match commercial free, with changeovers, I find myself much more engaged. Changeovers can tell you a lot about the match and player and espn just ignores it and then has the audacity to replay any drama during the real points. It’s a travesty.

In case anyone is wondering how to pay for and watch tennis in US: there is a tennis tv app. That app allows you to watch the men’s tour. There’s another app, the tennis channel app, that is for the women’s tour and maybe some other random tourneys. Neither of those apps have the grand slams tho, ie the Australian open. For that , in the US you need espn plus and can’t get away from ads. And then there’s also the French open. And between nbc, peacock and whatever else, beyond pirating the matches, I’ve genuinely been stumped trying to pay for it legitimately.

I saw this the other day on YouTube and it made me turn on the real thing.

eBay has had to reinvent itself. For me, I don’t trust eBay for legit merchandise, I sorta assume it’s knockoffs now, probably wrong. I’ve never used them but I was under the assumption that offer up and what not are popping off as eBay disrupters.

I think this was true of the last younger generation, and prob me and maybe you, but from what I’m seeing, TikTok is making anything and everything cool to the youths, particularly trade type jobs. They are realizing how much money there is to be made because our generation didn’t want the work and are embracing the opportunities because the videos they are watching are making it look cool.

I do appreciate how nonchalantly emancipating the 17 year old was suggested tho. Too funny. Two Americas?

Competitor services? Starlink aside, I have no options but what I have. I think many people at least in USA are in similar situation.

This reminds me of an upper level cs class I took in college. Can’t exactly remember the course but it was a lot of logic and terminal. We had this long syllabus and barely made it thru 2 assignments. It was a mess. Great school, great teacher too. The next year I had another cs prof pull me aside and ask me what the hell happened in that class. And I didn’t have answer. It was an unfocused mess. But that syllabus used in the course old. It wasn’t the first time the prof had used it. Something changed between my freshman and sophomore years, 2005-2007. When I first took cs, no one was in the class. By the following year they were adding intro cs classes. The next year a bunch of less passionate(for lack of better term) students ended up in higher level cs courses and maybe the course work was too rigorous. I still am unsure. Had some great programmers from the younger classes too.

I have a German shepherd. She’s 10. I’ve been buying the same toy for her for the last 10 years, jolly ball soccer ball in blue.

Probably average about 2 a year. My dog understands when it’s time for the new one. She’s ultra excited and all the sudden the old ball we have kicked and fetched every single day for 6 months, is non existent as we are on to the new one. I always get a kick out of it. She’s too funny about it.

I’ve seen this one other time. I don’t really want to provide links but I was on this lawyers website and there is a blog post about how he won $9mil. And I was just curious so I looked up the court documents and read them. And he totally lost the case. I sent it to various people(lawyer friends, more than 1 lol), to make sure I wasn’t reading the court stuff wrong. And that right there, me having no confidence in my reading comprehension, and not even trusting the word of one other law specialist but needing 2, is the reason people can lie about their outcomes in court and get away with it.

My mom is the same way. She’s really capable and smart, but she will also stop herself from plugging something in because she’s unsure.

I convinced her that she can figure out any remote and they are designed to be figured out. I told her at most there’s gonna be 5 buttons she doesn’t understand and it won’t break anything to hit them. Most of the buttons are numbers or volume and channel up down, power.

She got that. When her mom was sick and had different tvs because of different circumstances my mom would be like, “I did figure out the remote tho and was able to get the television working.”

I was with my 3 year old niece the other day and she turned on the receiver and then the television and I said , “wow, I’m impressed you figured that out.” And she said , “yeah when grandma watches me she doesn’t know how”. . .

Off-topic, but I was watching this golf instructional video from the 70’s or 80s by Gary Player. And he’s talking about all the different golfers he’s played with and he mentions this blind golfer,
