I was a college athlete. Trust me, this topic has been discussed ad infinitum. People were not even allowed to speak out. In addition, the NCAA meet is very competitive and Thomas pushed someone out of the meet and out of finals. Girls work their entire life for this meet just for it to end this way. It's shockingly sad on so many levels. It's not common, but it's not right that people were not even allowed to speak up. Former swimmers there have done interviews.
The unfortunate reality is, the internet has more up to date info than books, dvd's, pbs, and even 'the classical channel.' I play the piano and have found immense amounts of rare but nice music online, and only online. I completely agree that the media is bad, just pointing out that it's necessary to a degree if learning is your aim.
It's not just kids. My parents have spiraled in this way too. Why interact with each other when reels are more exciting? Why pursue friendships if you can experience it parasocially? This has been incredibly depressing, and it's a reason I make sure to value the people in my life. I have a lot of disgust for Meta and Google seeing what they've done to society broadly. Swiss people are quite rude and unaccepting of foreigners, even foreigners who grow up there. I don't think they have room for Americans wishing to leave.

It's mysterious to me that you write all this _and_ that you do truly love your kids and are great. If I was in your position I'd at least concede that people do deserve parents that don't regret them. Do their thoughts toward it even matter?

Hey there, sorry for the late reply. It's as simple as logging out and viewing the page. If you can't see your comments, they are not being shown to anyone but you when you are logged in. I asked hn moderation about this. It has to do with being flagged and downvoted. I don't know the remaining details. I hope this helps. I practically begged hn to consider the ramification of shadowbanning and the like. I understand the spam angle, but as a minority (who also has minority opinions) it makes me very sad that people are unwilling to believe that people dare disagree with them.

A relative of mine works for a school district in the Chicago area. What should they do? Not take note of people's residence? The whole reason they do is because they used to not. Then people took advantage of it. And the people that take advantage of it typically cause problems for the district. Everything is racist and classist. But wanting a diverse school district to thrive? No that's the real problem. I guarantee Alsip is more diverse than wherever you are writing from. The irony. I am a minority who disagrees with liberals. Is it conservatives fault I get attacked by liberals for attempting to question them? No. Enough of this distortion.
As I said below, when you are a minority and conservative or even relatively conservative people refuse to even engage with you, and that to me is the point of the article. Ignoring ideas doesn't refute them. Because I want to criticize liberals, I have been branded conservative. Conservatives don't present themselves as a minority, but when you are a minority and don't agree with liberals, you just get treated the worst.
When you are a minority and conservative you get told you don't exist. People refuse to even engage with you.
In particular, my views on crime, abuse of the term lgbt, and censorship.
I thought I'd submit this as many here are highly educated, but this perspective seems to go uncovered. My own experience as a minority in college was unfortunately similar. Unable to express my views - unable to even discuss them. I understand some views are not worth discussing - chicken shouldn't be eaten raw, etc. I am not referring to views like that.
