Btw I use LLMs. So don't expect me to buy the "AI" hype bullshit because I see what they can do.

I actually really like the term content creator, because it removes the artificial boundaries that come with being a writer, photographer, filmmaker, etc. and just lets you make stuff. The medium doesn't matter if you're a content creator, to a large extent.

The alternative is "art"

That's how you read the term. Unfortunately, for most of your potential viewers, "content" is "art" but commissioned by the ton, like beef.

SDL3 has a whole software renderer

Does this mean SDL3 has a built in 3d renderer or it's the modern meaning where anything is a serverless renderer or something like that?

Oh. I looked it up. Not my cup of tea but it looks like 15 million people liked it.

Now the question is, will they resist the temptation for cancerous "growth" now that they made some money?

And the sad thing is, I would have never heard about it if not for this HN discussion. I simply do not check online only games because I expect IAP fests.

Because the person who asked the question has accepted the first answer that looked decent enough and moved on.

Usually the most superficial, not that it's always a bad thing.

Oh, also on SO there's this kind of exchange:

Q: "I want to do X because of this and that - or because I simply fucking want to".

A: You should never do X, do Y or Z instead.

making it inclusive to the long-time users on the site, but exclusive to the newbie participants

I used to look for questions to answer on my morning coffee. Then two things happened:

1. Rep chasers that rushed to answer anything with a copy/pasta from manuals (or at best semi related tutorials) showed up so there was no point or time in typing a complex answer.

2. Those long time users started downmodding "teach the man how to fish" answers and favoring "here's stuff ready to copy/paste" answers.

This was long before LLMs.

Gaming as a whole is dead for me

There are millions of indies out there. Some are worth the time. It's a bit of a problem to figure out which though.

Haven't played online multiplayer games since ~2013

I don't think there are any non predatory online multiplayer games since 2013 :)

And there are many online multiplayer games that would have been really good as single player.

You can pretend to be any vid:pid with usb gadget mode. For example with a raspberry pi zero something.

But you can't pretend to be any vendors id, only the ones with vulnerabilities. And the drivers or spyware will be downloaded by windows from the vendor's site, not from your peripheral.

But yes, usb device identifier is done through software/firmware.

and am noticing a speedup in areas I was already familiar with, and a quicker introduction to new ones.

Only problem is that, like a LLM, you don't retain anything.

Hobby projects may become a lot more important now because if you do them without LLMs you may retain a brain cell or two.
