Why is Elm mentioned specifically. As far as I know (state, action) => state is just a function without side effects?

Why not?
Isn't Redux only used when the app becomes too complex with really complex state?
Will it make you a better React dev tho?
Can someone explain the timing security vulnerability mentioned in the article, I'm not sure I understand.
This may seem like a dumb question but why not use a laptop?
Why, what's so good about it?
The premise is not true. Many universities in Europe teach proper classes with programming assignments.
No, you can't. How many dialects of C++ are there or of Java.
This comment slowly escalated to the point where I thought the next line would be: "They also own your eyes".
Nope. You can go ahead and make a startup which can fail and then you're left with burnout and an empty bank account. Wasting time is an integral part of life.
My experience has been diametrically opposite to this. I've found Stack Exchange communities to be amazing communities to ask deep questions, practice technical writing and even exercise critical thinking skills.
On the Math Exchange I've had nothing but positive experience. The thing to do is first to struggle a bit with the problem and formulate a good question. Asking good question is an incredibly valuable skill. The questions which get treated bad are usually either poorly written and/or the person asking it clearly didn't even spend the bare minimum trying to solve it.
Here are some tips to get your questions answered and upvoted:
1) Spend some time on the problem
2) Describe what you've tried and why according to you that doesn't work or you don't understand it
3) Write in clear language and don't make obvious grammar mistakes
Yay, more code repos that will rot somewhere by engineers who thought they were "changing the world and making an impact".
The UI is bad, 7 years of OS updates and the older versions of the Mac still feel better. It's just glitz on top of very bad ideas.
This M1 Mac Air will definitely be my last. I am switching to Windows laptop soon. The thing is that Macs were head and shoulders above the competition and I just don't see it anymore. It's becoming an isolated ecosystem and the competition is just more than keeping up even with the M1.
I started using Macs in 2015 roughly and at that time they were destroying the competition. The retina display sucks. It doesn't feel natural to me.
Heard a programmer recently how open source programmers were being exploited by corpos that used their enthusiasm for the craft.
Is this that common? xD
How to wake up tired 90% of the time for Dummies.
What would my interviewer think if I answered that question with pussy and money tho?
This is really awesome.
useless everywhere basically. No sane person would sit down and read TAOCP.
what brings more peace than droke strikes though?
Yeah tbh undergraduate calculus courses are really not that difficult.
I can help her out. ; )
Is this now a trivial problem because of Deep Learning?
Come on, live a little. A small vacation of 6 months to Bora Bora never ruined a company! Enjoy. Life is short. Carpe diem.
US only?
Lol, that's a function that returns a pointer to a struct.
New language posts have to stop. There are tons of other CS topics to talk about but instead LIPSs ()()()()((((())))) and random langs taka the spotlight on HN.
Are you hiring juniors?
Any decent CS degree properly exposes students to functional, low-level programming and functional programming.
Even if they didn't, a strong programmer will pick up them up in an afternoon. Ditect memory manipulation is just not that hard.
