I buy a hard case, then put the stickers on that. Then I can pop it off if I need to be in a more "professional" environment or if I want to upgrade/sell it.

Absolutely. Some of us see (or at least I see) the level of discussion and feel it would be hard for me to say something worthwhile that sounds kinda smart. So I mostly lurk while being grateful for those who do write incredibly insightful comments.

I built this because I always forget that even though it's freezing cold outside, I should probably start thinking about starting my tomato, pepper and other seeds indoors.

You can add your zip code and select the plants you want to grow throughout the season. The app will then remind you when you need to seed/transplant/sow everything based on your frost date.

Hopefully this helps someone else, too!

Amazon has been really hit or miss for me lately, so I wanted to find other sites that sell high quality stuff and don’t have fake reviews or counterfeits. I looked for somewhere that had a list of them but couldn’t find much. So I’ve started a small collection of the ones I know and like. https://zochre.com

In the past I’ve built more complicated products to scratch itches (mostly PM related). This one is kinda fun cause it’s so stupidly simple.

Lately I've been buying directly from the brands I like more and more often. Sure, it may take an extra couple of days for shipping, but I feel it's worth it. Plus a lot of stores now have shopify pay and other payment options that make it just as fast to checkout.

I've been keeping track of the stores I like in a side project (https://zochre.com/) although it doesn't have any electronics stores yet.

When I'm in clamshell mode, I love having an external trackpad. I used to have a trackball mouse which was decent enough - it's just that it was a pain when working in Adobe products & Figma and wanted gestures. I see no need to go back to a regular mouse or use anything else.

Personally, I haven't noticed any fatigue. I also do have tap to click mode on which I feel helps.

Starlink for RVs 4 years ago

We took our dishy out on an RV trip last weekend and it was great. Put it in the back of the truck and had great reception the entire time. I'm not sure I'll be able to go back to terrible RV park WiFi ever again.

Why not both? There's a board certification in clinical informatics where the current opportunities are endless. My partner is over 40, board certified in CI and anesthesia, and makes damn good money. There are plenty of opportunities for people who enjoy problem solving in both medicine and tech — plus, there's a whole lot less ageism.

This year I...

- brined in a mix of salt, sugar and herbs for around 36 hours

- injected a butter mix under the skin (this one was my partner's idea so I'm not sure how if affected the outcome, but I suppose it couldn't hurt)

- fried the turkey in peanut oil

It came out really, really well. Process improvement for next year is to remember it took a bit longer than expected for the oil to heat up so it threw off timing with all the side dishes, so get the oil heated before you need it. I'd also be curious if buying an organic bird changes the taste.

The turkey was always dry during my Thanksgivings growing up, so when I hosted my own Thanksgiving dinner, I was determined to get it right. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I'm working on a little side project where you can share snippets of your design to test them for clarity (5-second tests, basically). The idea is you can go through everyone's designs, answer some questions about them, and then get feedback on yours.

Not sure if it'd be helpful for what you're looking for (and I'm just getting started so there aren't a lot of posts yet — working on that), but hey, worth a shot. IsThisClear.com

Every day for the last 1.5 years!

I write it in a running text document with the latest entry at the top. Keeping it simple has made it easy to keep up with.

I've settled into the following format.

* date

* how yesterday went and any notable events

* what I'm hoping to get done today

* as of lately, local covid #s

* 3 things I'm grateful for

* the top headline of the day

* a quick rating of my current "thinking power", energy, mood, and how I'm feeling physically

Can you write up a journal entry on your phone or in a notebook? Maybe some thoughts on yesterday and how you're feeling today.

I've found journaling to be a great productivity enhancer, especially since I can do a debrief of the last month and see where things went well and where they did not so I know what to do (and not do) again.

* Wake up somewhere around 7am. Coffee.

* Meditate (10-30 minutes depending on how I feel)

* Light yoga/stretching + daily journal

* Whatever workout is on the ultra marathon training plan

* shower then get to work

* 1pm lunch

* back to work

* if afternoon drowsiness sets in then its nap time, if not, keep working

* cook & eat while watching some tv

* depending on how I'm feeling either get some more work done or just relax

* get ready for bed + read + sleep usually around 10:30. I like to sleep.

Sundays are for debriefing last week and planning the next. On bad days, replace the work with playing animal crossing, cleaning, mindlessly browsing the internet, and switching between online courses & YouTube

Hey y'all. I've been working remotely for the last 7 years now and while I love it, there are definitely some drawbacks to it — most notably, loneliness. In past roles, I tried to get ahead of this by hosting remote happy hours where a group of us just hang out and chat about non-work things.

I created this site last weekend to help others find similar groups. It is still a work in progress, so let me know what you'd like to see in something like this. I'm hoping to get a few groups set up soon.

I would wake up early and go surfing. Then I'd come home, shower, go meet some friends for coffee, work on a side project for a few hours (whatever that may be at the moment), make myself some lunch, go for a walk, do a bit of learning, prepare dinner, eat/hang out with some friends/family/SO, read a bit of HN, go to sleep, and wake up and do it all over again.

I'm working on incorporating aspects of that ideal day into my every day. As others have mentioned, there's no use in waiting until 'one day' to start.

That's pretty neat. My workaround at the moment is to put all my stickers on a hardshell case for the MBP. That way, I can just pop it off if I'm ever ready to sell or just want to look more "professional".

I must say though, that the extra bulk of the case can be slightly annoying and I miss the look of the aluminium. I"ll be interested to follow your story!
