I find myself playing factorio every few months. I play and play and play until at some point i realize that I'm fooling myself: Adding that extra steel production plant, with all the blueprinting, train routing and refactoring that is involved... I'm no longer escaping work. Actual Work now seems like less effort. And that's when I'm cured for a few months.
I don't "love" iGoogle, but I have grown into it, all my stuff is there now, after 5 years.

Three things that should trouble this bloke
1. Using popular language as "Do this, I don't care how" makes you come off as unintelligent. It gives the reader a feeling that you have no idea what is involved and that you just want your one special thing. Everybody who has ever worked with clients of any kind knows what I mean.
2. Itunes is dead? What does that even mean? Are you by any chance a Hipster? That would explain...

I totally agree. The biggest mistake I used to make when stuff got complex was trying to get back "control" by "normalizing all the tasks": writing stuff down way ahead of time etc. I now do one task at a time, take a short break, then the next task.

Sorry to break up your little circle-jerk here, but if you really need to bring security holes into the discussion you have lost already. You understand the the type of security holes that are found in the Flash player to not concern the average gamedev, right?
And all the AS3 core functionality runs pretty solid, please show me these mayor bugs you talk about. I've also been a game dev for many years and started out at Flash before finding my place with one of the bigger studios. I still use Flash regularly to bounce ideas around and I still love it. If you really run into that many issues with Flash these are probably performance related and you should probably move on to a higher level language because you have outgrown the AS3 api.
You only need a license if you use BOTH stage3D and Alchemy. Alchemy allowes c++ code to be executed from Flash on any platform. This has nothing to with Flash so I think it is only fair that we pay them for their investment. All the rest is still free.
More like: we need more money to compete with in this billion dollar market where we are generating suprisingly little revenue.

<3 Flash <3. And I can't blame Adobe: Everybody is making billions on gaming, Apple takes away 30% of all of it. That's crazy! Adobe now has the most awesome tools, probably invested a lot. I can't blame them for wanting a piece of the action. And the best part: If you don't use BOTH Alchemy and Stage3D you don't have to pay a dime. <3
This is great news. OMGPOP would have headed in that direction anyway and now their talented, hardworking employees will see their careers boosted a bit earlier (maybe even a nice little payout?)
All the value OMGPOP might have ever had ( which besides Draw-something, they really didn't have * ) will evaporate into the creativity-destructing teeth of soul-grinder Zynga, leaving a big piece of the market available for Indie game-devs <3 that are awesome and actually give a d * mn.

I would still use inheritance to create a basic addComponent/componentFunction class. I don't think inheritance is meant to be used for creating as much sub-classes as possible. But as with all software design, it is important to know where to draw the line. Where have you inherrited all you can? What you describe is pretty much inheritance vs composition. A tradeoff as old as oop.

As a small business owner ( 3 peoples) working our asses of trying to publish a game for tablets, I can't help but hate Zynga for having unlimited resources and no regards for those that actually make an effort. Here's to their stock plummeting and that douche living in a box.

That's so sad, but so real and common. Where I'm from, the law (kind of) allows for euthanasia. People can decide when to die, and have the option of leaving this place in a dignified manner, whit friends and relative in the room.
