By law the US govt is able to compel access to any data controlled by an American company, regardless of where those companies operate. There doesn’t need to be specific evidence of this case, it’s true of all cases.
Some American companies have tried to establish convoluted workarounds in Europe to get around this, but as far as I’m aware it hasn’t been tested in court yet.

Can’t speak for everyone else, but it wasn’t this for me. It was about 2016 presidential that lost me.
He tries to justify this later about how theirs was better than other outlets but I don’t care. Call it emotional, naive, unfair or whatever you want, but regardless I had zero interest in reading any of their predictions or analyses after that.

It used to be normal to pay for cable TV which was outrageously expensive. They used to go to movie theatres on a regular basis, and collect physical media for movies and music and games and tv. Etc.

Yes this is a common release practice.
However this is a different situation as we’re talking about running arbitrarily found third-party scripts. I can’t imagine that was ever intended to be done in production.
Fun story, when I worked at Facebook in the earlier days someone accidentally made a change that effectively set the release flags for every single feature to be live on production. That was a day… we had to completely wipe out memcached to stop the broken features and then the database was hammered to all hell.

This analysis ignores the fact that the user experience has regressed from a previous version which didn’t have these issues.
So it’s not like some longstanding industry-wide UI issues they’ve ignored forever, it’s that Apple has introduced new tradeoffs or lowered their quality standards to the point that some users feel their experience has worsened.

I can infer from the neglect that Apple News has been a failure for them and they are keeping it going to avoid consequences for shuttering it. Or if not a failure, it’s not enough of a success to give the product sufficient attention.
I think you have some potential opportunities here either in doing something in the spaces of technical education or podcasting/newsletter.
Could definitely imagine a weekly podcast where you cover the weeks risc-v developments and add some context from your experience and knowledge. Or a course targeted at getting new developers up to speed.
Either way the existing types of knowledge and work you do could work as marketing opportunities for those paid avenues.

Definitely not the latest and greatest RISC-V, interestingly a new Milk-V board was announced quite recently which will use the new spacemit K3 chip.
Even if you dislike Wayland, forwards-going development is clearly centred around it.
Development of X11 has largely ended and the major desktop environments and several mainstream Linux distributions are likewise ending support for it. There is one effort I know of to revive and modernize X11 but it’s both controversial and also highly niche.
You don’t have to like the future for it to be the future.
