The motherboard of that machine doesn't support more than 3 GB RAM.

I did exclude the cache part when measuring the memory usage. And they were measured using standard tools like top, ps, etc.

You can always setup block level encryption using dm-crypt/lvm in a Linux VM.

I asked the same question to a hardware enthusiast and Linux user. He suggested me one of the machines with AMD APUs. It seems they're supported well via fglrx drivers.

I particularly like how FreeBSD manages software, something similar on on the Linux world is Gentoo.

Don't know about other countries, but it's quite costlier compared to GupShup, which operates a similar service in India.

Hetzner.de is also cheap for dedicated servers.
