Revolut is simplifying this, also in Switzerland. You checkout with the "Pay with Revolut" option. It's instant, magic and safe. You don't need to copy card details, just authorise the push notification.

Revolut has already of few million users in Switzerland. It looks like swiss citizens and foreign immigrants being taken for a ride in fees by the swiss banks are now fed up and have alternatives...
Revolut is well positioned to launch an alternative p2p multi-currency (fiat) for both consumers and businesses with the partnership with Stripe [0].
This would challenge both Visa-Mastercard and SWIFT.

I found the approach of disposable virtual card numbers (Visa and Mastercard) that Revolut is giving to each app owner for free is amazing. This number (always different) can be autopopulated from a browser plugin during checkout from the PC and has a very smooth user experience. I don't need to take a card out of my wallet or open the smartphone app to do this. I am happy and regulator is happy too, in this case.
Revolut is already working in the real time payment space for consumers and B2B, cross-country and cross-currency (mobile for consumers and B2B APIs for businesses) and it's active in EU, USA and Asia (SG, JP, AU) and expanding its footprint.
This is a good update, than you for the resources. One only point to add to your last one: Revolut, already very popular in Europe, is also present in USA now. QR codes are already supported, as well as instant phone to phone payments with either phone number, name alias (uniqueID).
Revolut is growing very aggressively in Europe and Australia and it's already doing cross-border instant cross-currency transfers (mobile to mobile).
