Never thought I would agree, but recently started a new job in a fully remote company. I was super excited. I thought it would be a dream.

Instead, I have found that it's basically impossible to stand out in the ways I have in the past, via charisma, camaraderie, being inquisitive, etc. Remote work has basically devolved aptitude into a series of scores & metrics. It feels like working at an Amazon factory. Slack is a nightmare to keep up with.

Stripe is supposed to be a back-end API, not a front-end API. I don't want them taking over my payflows and confusing users.

Stripe needs to decide if they are a b2b API, or b2c checkout and invoicing product.

It seems to me that Stripe has gone from easy to cheer for underdog, to payment processor that wants to eat the world (ala Facebook).

I love that they are constantly innovating, but every time they do, I have to refactor my product, and then decide how much of my current product's custom functionality can be replaced by Stripe. Then I have to decide if I want to double down on Stripe (at the peril of other integrations), or create a wacky payflow that acknowledges dozens of additional gateways.

I don't want a single product that does everything. I want a great product that does a few things really well. This is starting to kill my love affair with Stripe.

They should have just called it a Tweet Storm and let the crowd win. Instead, they tried to pioneer a new term and act as if it was in their heads all along.

As for the topic itself, I do find "threads" interesting, but on the whole, would much rather read longer format text.

I love the 240 character limit. I do not love having to sort through a thread, or seeing a single thread item retweeted.

There's a reason athletes and entertainers are using notepad to author longer form content, and there's a reason "threads" are interesting, and it's not because of the format. It's the content.

There are so many times that I read a tweet, and because of its length, have zero context to use in understanding its meaning. This is one of the reasons I've stopped using Twitter, and why my businesses are planning to do the same.

The sign up flow is confusing. I clicked the button, but was sent to AWS. Finally signed in there, and was taken to a support level sign-up flow. Went back to the original link whilst logged in, and kept getting redirected to AWS when I clicked the button.

I stopped going to meetups because they felt like glorified networking groups where I never really found any value, solid connections, or a reason to go back. I tried both speaking and attending.

Based on what I've read, and I'm fully willing to admit it's all hearsay, Steve, while having achieved great things, has a history of abusing his power and treating founders poorly. This does not feel like bad news.

Not everyone has the time or interest. I'd rather go out than cook a meal.

Based on the comments in this thread, it seems like there was some sort of instruction for all the students to come here and post about their experience, which has resulted in a complete non-discussion.

Negotiate a small up front bonus, 2-4 weeks of paid vacation in the immediate future, at a minimum, and then take the deal.

Use the r&r to recharge, and the acquisition to bolster your track record. Start something new once you vest.

As a former Apple fanboy that is also a Sonos lover, I'm starting to get annoyed by the fragmentation caused by the multiple product offerings in this category.

I have an Echo, 4 Echo Dots, one of every Apple Device, and a mix of other tech sprinkled throughout the house. I have already committed both my home and business to Sonos, and have zero desire to decommission those so that I can more easily play music from my Apple music library.

Do I wish that Sonos had a better/tighter integration with Amazon Prime or iTunes? Absolutely. However, I like the fact that it's platform agnostic. Apple could've solved a much bigger problem here, but instead chose to create a new one and solve that instead.
