As someone with ADHD, I think this is a great idea. Yes it's expensive, but the reason why a lot of neurotypical solutions don't work for me is because they lack design details and nuances that the ADHD brain requires. I've spoken to non-ADHD therapists in the past (great for some things!), and have also spoken with ADHD coaches and there is a difference.

A few weekends back I wanted to build something creative...so thought I'd try and make the most realistic, satisfying, virtual fidget spinner.

I know the fidget spinner craze was a while back but I still use my physical spinner, so wanted to see if I could replicate it online.

I also thought it could be a way to drive traffic to my other project, which is productivity app, so it kind of fits with the theme of fidgeting and attention.

So I made the fidget spinner and put a link to my other project in the nav bar.

It was a win-win. I learnt a lot making the spinner, and now it accounts for almost 40% of the traffic to my other website.

The spinner has been spun around 32,000 times so far!

It's using React, React Spring and a cool library I found called Propeller to create the inertia effect.

To make it feel even more realistic I added a spinner sound effect from freesound.org (a great resource for sounds!) and made the volume increase as it spins faster.

Would love to hear what you think!

10 months ago, I gave myself the challenge of learning to code, then to launch a product from scratch. Today I'm celebrating the launch of Llama v1.0!

Llama is a productivity tool that helps you power through lists, not just make them. It does this by letting you set a 'timer' for every task. Your goal is to finish before the time runs out.

The name comes from one of my favorite travel experiences to Peru where I visited a small town to learn about their culture. While I was there, Llamas were roaming around their village - those Llama's looked soo relaxed and were leading their best life

This is my attempt at leading a 'Llama life'. I built Llama because I found a huge correlation between my Mental Health and my Productivity levels throughout a given day. For me, if I don't feel like I'm making progress it significantly affects my mood. And during these Covid times and WFH, being productive has been all the more challenging.

It's been a journey - from knowing no code to learning html, css, javascript -> React, flexbox, styled components, bootstrap, webpack, git, node.js/express, Stripe integration for payments, Firebase for user authentication and database . But am excited to be finally releasing v1.0 of Llama.

Would love to hear your thoughts and any feedback.

Thanks!

Hi! So if you have an unlimited text messaging plan you'll be fine. Otherwise standard rates from your carrier will apply / it will be counted toward your monthly message limit.

We're definitely thinking of letting people customize it. The thought is to build some basic AI in so we'd text you a few questions eg do you want quotes about startups? funny quotes? motivational quotes? Depending what you answer, that's what you'll get.

Alternatively, we could set the customization up as a webpage, then you can check off the types of quotes/individuals who inspire you?

Any preference either way? text or web customization?

Thanks for the feedback!

Hey guys,

Would love to get your feedback on my app, Qu.

It's a place for technology lovers to geek out, ask questions and get answers about the latest in tech news.

The difference between Qu and other Q&A sites is that it's designed to be very lightweight. The focus is on voting and knowing a very clear yes / no % on where you stand vs others.

http://askqu.co/

I love sites like reddit and HN, but sometimes reading through a long list of comments is time consuming and often hard to sum up where the overall opinion on a topic stands. That's why I made Qu!

Any and all feedback welcome!

Thanks all!
