The "idiomatic Rust" thing rubs me the wrong way. If someone writes Rust that compiles and works, that's Rust. full stop. Telling people it doesn't count until it's "idiomatic" is just gatekeeping. It quietly says you're not a real Rust dev until you've put in years and absorbed all the unwritten rules, which shuts out exactly the people who are still learning. Everyone writes "non-idiomatic" code when they start. That's not a failure, that's how learning works. Even if being written by LLMs, the devs still will need to improve their knowledge to keep the codebase.

"Our broader goal in writing this up was to illustrate some higher-level TypeScript features and type-driven design patterns in the practical context of modern web development."

Is type-driven design a think? For me it's just development ...

“ For me personally, it feels oppressive to require anything from the person who wronged me. The fact that they wronged me indicates that perhaps they don't value my happiness as much as they should, and now my happiness is predicated on them acting the right way?”

Thanks for that. That is a powerful thought and did help me right now.

GitLab 12.5 7 years ago

I’ve set up teamcity, Jenkins, CircleCI for past projects and companies. Tried to use gitlab with all their built-in DevOps feature and found it extremely frustrating to get to a good setup.

I dig the idea of all in one but think it really needs some polishing

Good luck. I temporarily disabled my Instagram account and can’t recover it. The process is supposed to be just login again, but it hangs because I had two factor Authentication enabled. My account is now in a limbo. There is no proper support channel for this problem. And the form they provid for help on the app just give an “invalid parameters” when trying to submit, but the funny part is it’s hidden behind the iPhone X notch, only found the error because I took a screenshot. Instagram always been like this? or is this sign of Facebook tighter grip on it?

not really necessary to have a solid product, on the contrary. VC money bring unreliable and not always user first agenda.
