I considered buying bambu lab A1, bout watching this and previous dramas I rather go with different vendor. Are there any good alternatives for newcomers? I like hacker nature and openness of Prusa, but I’m worried if it is good printer as a first one…

In my opinion these guys just don't give a sh** on "stupid sizing bugs". Those who cares about how they software behaves and looks like realises after a while that most of AI claims are scam.

Why people publish AI written articles? If I would like to read AI I can just prompt it myself, and when I read something on someone blog I expect that I will read thoughts of this particular human being...

I wonder how it is that we, as the users, allow it when iOS started allowing third-party. After that we accepted that macOS is more and more closed platform. And I'm hearing constantly something like "Yes, that's wrong, but at least platform is secure". For me security is less about how much platform is closed and more about how educated users are.

On the side note that is interesting, that when first iOS version was released Apple talked that "PWA" will be the future, and nowadays Apple do everything to suppress PWA ;)

I don’t know if it is purposeful, but sounds a bit like amnesia :)

You have to pay apple 150$ annually for the pleasure of notarisation, even if you make open-source apps. Yet you cannot distribute apps outside store on mobile (besides in eu, but not really, but is't topic on its own…).

Also WebUSB, WebMIDI. Not to mention that you can’t develop an app for you (and your family and friends) without have developer subscription :(

If I may suggest, Swift support will be more than appreciated, to consider it for a viable protocol for connecting backend with mobile applications.

I agree, but if I would have to type one most insulting things with AI is scraping data without consent to train models, so people no longer enjoy blog posting :(

I would say they have direct control, as they have to bless app before even it can be published on other stores and can revoke this blessing anytime.

It is interesting, that when Apple, with small steps, slowly disallowed any kind of sideloading merely nobody took notice of it... and now Google is doing the same, and whole internet protest. Who knows, maybe fact that now there is no alternative for tech-savy, and people are angry now it is good thing in longer perspective for both platforms.

For me it’s a matter of settings. As a user I would have option to choose “secure” mode that disallow installing apps from unofficial sources, but if I want to I should have option to allow side loading. Everything else is just corporations need to have to much control.

You are right, apps are not reviewed by humans. But there is automatic review in the process of notarization. And you still need to ask apple for all entitlements you need (Critical alerts, CarPlay etc), as in the case mentioned in this blog post.

The same is with CarPlay for example. You need to apply form entitlement. For me this is weird, it is user choice if he would like to have critical alerts, CarPlay UI and so on. And Apple have review process to not pass apps that abuse this mechanisms./

You can, indeed, but all apps have to pass Apple review. So they can still reject app on vague reasons.

In old times there were an option to upgrade ram and storage using stock parts form hardware store, but now everything is soldered.

Only Gruber was able to write an essay in defense of Apple mouse. I will easily trade every argument he wrote for usb port in normal place.
