Yeah, I was a bit baffled by the author complaining about cache prefixes getting destroyed when more than one user hit the model, but then continuing to use llama.cpp instead of switching to vLLM.

TIL that our corporate network site blocker classifies qwen.ai as a sex site…
That last quote, buried at the end of the article, absolutely killed me. I cannot believe he had the nerve to say that doing what he does everyday
I regularly buy full albums and individual tracks on the Apple Store. AFAIK Amazon also still offers the same, both stores are DRM free
A competent person does not summon every senior leader in his worldwide organization to be physically present for an hour in an auditorium while he blusters and attempts to deliver TV-ready one-liners. A competent person also does not take over a massive organization that relies on these senior executives’ decades of experience and immediately fire a non-trivial number of them because of their gender or skin color.
Can you point us to a resource that would layout guidelines for placing laptop stickers in an aesthetically pleasing manner?
I just started going a few years back and I agree, it is really well done. One of my neighbors is the king’s main guard, so we get all sorts of behind the scenes anecdotes at the kids’ bus stop in the morning.
Maryland?
The difference for purposes of the conversation happening here is skin color absolutely does not affect cognition where age definitely does.
The website has some really good tutorials you can knock out in an afternoon that teach you the basics of using the interface, along with the more important stuff about GIS terminology and jargon.
We have some friends (husband and wife) that we met because our kids play together and they are the first people I’ve met that are licensed ham operators! They each have their operator number on their license plates for their respective cars since our state has radio operator plates you can upgrade to!
Not OP, but we use the docling library to extract text and put it in markdown before storing for use with an LLM.
My favorite music podcast, You’ll Hear It, uses “is it better than KOB” as one of their album review metrics!
the product occupies little space and it's trivial to keep around
Haha, I have found this to absolutely NOT be the case! Each individual mini only takes up and inch or so, but they multiply and between them and the brushes/airbrush/paint racks and the ever-increasing grey Pile of Shame, it’s not a small amount of space taken up!
It is an extremely rewarding hobby with a low bar to entry, though, and I agree that I will probably never stop.
No, but only because our work has to be done on-prem, so we use our self-hosted LLM deployments. If that weren’t a limitation we would for sure
Same! I’ve been using Continue in VSCode and found most of the bigger Qwen models plus gpt-oss-120b to be great in agentic mode!
Open Web UI is a great alternative for a chat interface. You can point to an OpenAI API like vLLM or use the native Ollama integration and it has cool features like being able to say something like “generate code for an HTML and JavaScript pong game” and have it display the running code inline with the chat for testing
Our team has been using openwebui as the interface for our stack of open source models we run internally at work and it’s been fantastic! It has a great feature set, good support for MCPs, and is easy to stand up and maintain.
That will never happen in the US as long as the current iteration of the Republican Party has any power to stop it, which is given to them by people continuing to vote against their own interests and thinking that billionaires are what “makes America great”.
I had no idea how enormous moose were until I had to go to Fairbanks a few years ago for a work thing. It was unreal sitting in line waiting to move through the gate at the air base and seeing a moose casually running down along the 8 foot fence along the perimeter and realizing it was taller than the fence!
What I took from it was her points toward the end about how the re-entry process needs to be vastly improved.
This may be an ignorant question, but does this also work for operations inside a container’s filesystem?
My take from my time on a major staff is it’s less about pomp and circumstance and more about being included in important discussions.
The key difference is the DDS folks were not uniformed military. That can make all the difference when trying to sell your product or service to a military decision maker.
Edit: apparently this link got posted by itself on HN and someone else linked to the HN post replying to your question.
After reading the article I googled for “samurai jack art style guide” and found this (it has a bunch of backgrounds part way down): https://characterdesignreferences.com/art-of-animation-8/art...
Has anybody found a good site with pre-made cards or (ideally) some sort of play-along tracks for memorizing piano chord voicings?
This definitely works. I have two profiles on IG: one for musical instrument related things and one for painting miniatures. I’ve been able to keep both profiles strictly on topic by aggressively using the “not interested” button whenever something not related pops up.
It is alright. Most people can figure out from context clues what the writer means and the only thing being pedantic and demanding about other peoples’ language does is make them REALLY not want to do what you’re saying.
Pump strength and bonk with a giant sword was my approach.
Once you’ve grabbed your initial set of abilities from the opening area and stocked up on some weapons it becomes much easier. Shifting your mindset to “combat is almost entirely optional” also changes how hard the game feels.
