My question is, all these people who spit on Adobe. What is Apple doing differently that would make it a good option? Apple is even more rent-seeking than Adobe. The fact that their software only runs on exorbitantly expensive hardware being the least of those methods.

If Word was implemented with standard XML backend instead of OOXML, then today, we could have easily developed tools to show good, reliable diffs without having to resort to tricks.

Training is the high-cost missing from the equation of "low-cost" High quality training doesn't scale.

Given that it was this easy for an amateur, professional repair shops should be able to do this commercially right? So, the only thing that needs to be documented are the steps, and then this should qualify in a 'right to repair' scenario, no?
