I was lucky enough to be able to mail £5 notes to Llamasoft in Mount Pleasant, and receive freshly reproduced tapes from Jeff Minter, or more likely his mum or dad.. The sheer joy of getting home from school and there being a Jiffy bag with Yaks latest game was like nothing else.. From GridRunner, LaserZone, HellGate, MetaGalactic Llama Battle At The Edge Of Time..

Oh, so we’re including the unwashed masses ? Cool.. You’re right, of course..
I think it perhaps took off with NT4 in ‘96..
Reads much like my daily-menu when I had Graves Disease..
Commodore fanboy at heart, but maximum love to the weird uncle of home computing.. I was so jealous of Parsec on that, speech and all, in 1982, when our local nerd group used to go and stare at computers after school..
PDS required a PC with PDS ISA card (not much more than an 8255 iirc), was never available on the ST..
Let’s wait and see eh ? I don’t rule out anything in this country right now in the foreseeable future..
Three has been fucked for years on 5G: https://community.three.co.uk/t5/Broadband/Intermittent-conn...

A quality choice of addresses :) “0xffFFfFFffFFffFfFffFFfFfFfFFFFfFfFFFFDead," "1FuckiRGCTerroristsNoBiTEXXXaAovLX," and "DFuckiRGCTerroristsNoBiTEXXXWLW65t."
I believe they can do 140kg to 800km, but #5 was only 4kg to a 180km x 1800km orbit..
The world seems to have rewritten history, and forgotten Ultima Underworld, which shipped prior to Doom..
movsb doesn’t set any flags, so no, it isn’t..
Roundabout when NVIDIA breached 3T USD and ousted Apple from #1 spot: “That is a long way from Curtis Priem's kitchen table, a $2.5M A-round from Sutter Hill and Sequoia, and the NV1.”
It’s not stunning, ~420MB/s and 36k IOP/s and it’s limited to 2242 sizes.. But it was a nice cheap 2TB upgrade for the old girl :)
Had no idea that even existed!
Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem for the first time was an astonishing thing with that soundtrack.. Back then wasn’t really into DP, but that sold me entirely..
Could stick a drive on an ExpressCard to NVMe adapter.. I’ve got one in mine, I don’t boot off it, but I believe it can.. Runs a bit warm, but it’s been powered up and running 24/7 for 2 years with no issues..
I was always fascinated by the prospects of the 1024-core Epiphany-V from Parallella.. https://parallella.org/2016/10/05/epiphany-v-a-1024-core-64-... But it seems whatever the DARPA connection was has led to it not being for scruffs like me and is likely powering god knows what military systems..
I’ve always been fascinated on more details about the VIC-1 in the Vixen/VIC-20.. Apparently designed for an arcade machine use, but then put into use for the VIC.. Wish there was more about that part of the story as I’ve no idea how it really came about and would dearly love to know more.. Aside from that, the gang did an amazing job, Jack, Chuck, Bob, Tony and Co. I raise my glass to you all :)
RoBB was something truly special!
Deltron 3030 is one of the most amazing things ever!
The Ouseburn Farm in Newcastle (your last link) is a great place :)
I’m puzzled by that too.. iPhone 15 Pro and FPS is 60.1ms permanently, but clearly moving at 60fps+.. Very nice though, very nice indeed..
Windows has been driving me crackers the last few days trying to benchmark hard to measure optimisations, and tend to end up on long runs, looking for the minimum time.. Usually closing chrome results in an immediate ~10% performance boost even minimised.. I’d love to see an option for a Developer to lock off some cores totally, nothing runs on them unless its in an approved list.. At least then I can profile on those cores and get a reasonable result..
Yes.. And no, you can inspect and measure the SDRAM component, at runtime, to best determine how object sizes will be allocated.. Is kind of what I was getting at, and have spent the last month implementing ;)
DRAM page size surely ? All those cheap CASs’ ?
The man dissed the ThinkLight(tm), other than that fair dinkum..
Nice one Demis & Chums!
I like the sound of AMD engineer Borislav Petkov, him & I could fix the world together }:-8)
