The other day I came across to a video showing workers in a e-vape factory. They pick up a bunch of e-vapes from the conveyor belt (each has 6 e-vape think), stick in their mouth and vigorously vape all of them for about 5 seconds, then test the next bunch. Humans reviewing hundreds of lines of change in a PR written by AI is not very different.

I asked an AI. I thought they would know.

What the hell is a "safety score for violence"?

A “safety score for violence” is usually a risk rating used by platforms, AI systems, or moderation tools to estimate how likely a piece of content is to involve or promote violence. It’s not a universal standard—different companies use their own versions—but the idea is similar everywhere.

What it measures

A safety score typically evaluates whether text, images, or videos contain things like:

Threats of violence (“I’m going to hurt someone.”) Instructions for harming people Glorifying violent acts Descriptions of physical harm or abuse Planning or encouraging attacks

Everything that has a beginning has an end. It would be really cool to live until whenever and realize that given our poor capacity to recollect past events we humans are actually the goldfish of the universe. No death means you only remember hash of events that are so distant in your past which is basically how you felt. After some time of life you start to only remember your feelings without recollecting much details about the events.

YES you do. BUT with varying retention periods for each a) environment b) region c) function d) criticality e) metric namespace/name f) team etc.

Nobody needs to retain metrics like CPU, Memory for weeks but I may want to see their numbers during an incident, or not long after it is over.

It mostly depends on how you feel in the moment, and how you would like to feel some moments later, e.g., if you are feeling blue, listening melancholic music will amplify your blueness, happy music on the other hand (whatever it is for you) will possibly get you out of it. Another factor is your age (your music listening experience). Many times you'll find yourself listening to the same albums/songs and feeling differently than you felt while listening to the same tunes years ago.

Music is just a game of pattern recognition to spur up emotions which may trigger thoughts/ideas or may just provide resolve. Rules like no rock music in the morning, or jazz only in the evenings, though may help, don't make sense. Maybe you hate rock music this morning but next week maybe you'll enjoy. Keeping an open mind about the consumption of music and avoiding self imposed rules like that will only add to your experience.

You gotta feed yourself the likes. And there's no end to it. Like, it never gets full.

It's like you're sending SYNs with the tweets and such, and need to be ACK'ed. As if just putting it out there for the sake of sharing was not enough. Though during Internet's early years with tons of personal sites and blogs, watching visitor counter as the owner of the site was like seeing all the ACKs. We were getting our kicks from watching that number go up. Now, social media's likes replaced that simple number with all bunch of numbers, and it is incredibly addictive. Internet is definitely connecting us people together, for better or worse, but it also amplifies some of our destructive emotions and urges. Interesting times.

The issue with the nuclear power is the nuclear warhead. Mankind would be perfectly fine with nuclear power but will always be at risk as long as it is weaponized. Some folks being fatally radiated does not impose risk to our kind.

There are many answers to what is the meaning of life. Lacking some important aspects of life like family, career, etc. because of past decisions, or losing someone dear may put anyone in a situation where they question the very meaning of life and even when things are all fine we look for a purpose to make sense of things around us. Some philosophers look at this question and argue for passion, some inner peace. Frankl says one needs to seek their own meaning of life. Find whatever it is, make it meaningful for you and hold on to it.

If you are in a dark place do yourself a solid and try reading Frankl's book mentioned by OP. Reading about Montaigne's life (there's a recent bio book about him) may also help. Seneca's or Marcus Aurelius's writings will also help when it particularly comes to the issue of how worrying too much about things we can't control affects us. Every living breathing soul has their own demons and issues with life, you have yours so most importantly go easy on yourself.
