You may be thinking of [Homerow](https://www.homerow.app/) for Macos. Its okay for popups that I used to need a mouse for. There's another app that does similar "Vimium for Desktop" but it wasn't as responsive and sometimes focus would get stuck, but I forgot that software's name.

As a result, I've had a well rounded background of experience, worked with a lot of on-premise hardware, various technologies and was responsible for everything top to bottom which means to say finding clients, investigating requirements, design and implementation and deployment was on me.

Well I have to appreciate the design choice since where I am internet is slow and unreliable. I couldn't imagine having to fetch each photo over the internet just to browse from my own home network.

But there should be a feature to at least sync to a cloud service for backup purposes.

Not that I support this program, because I don't know much about it to decide, but I know from where I live now if you don't have electricity then you are living a very simple life and probably aren't using that much cash each week anyways.

So, the amount allowed to be withdrawn sounds small but it might not affect those without electricity. Plus, if they don't have electricity there is no ATM and therefore they have all their cash on hand as I know many stories of remote island villages where people just keep money in their house. The best stories are of those who are truly remote but making absolute bank selling kava roots and they come down to the major town and buy new Toyota trucks in all cash stuffed into 25kg bags of rice.

As much as I agree in general, the last part affects me and many others. I only get 2.5Mb/s and I work for the WISP.

The wife's family living away from the main city have intermittent connection and slower speeds. We have only one submarine cable and poor infrastructure further out. So heavy, bloated sites eat up people's pre-paid internet packages quickly or have trouble loading altogether. Prepaid is around $1.25 for 500MB or $10 for 5.5GB.

I think lower bundle sizes should be a goal. Or lower bandwidth websites should be available such as a 'm.' Domain. IMO

In Vanuatu, where I am now. Facebook is free to use on mobile phone networks provided by Vodafone or Digicel.

Consequently, Facebook is 'the internet' for most here. We have Facebook groups with member counts that are 1/3 of the country's population. For example the group 'Yumi Toktok Stret' has 128K members for a country of 300k. It is an amazing look into the thoughts of a nation since everything from jokes and gossip to serious arguments on policy occur there.

Funny anecdote I have that kinda counters what you say.

I know from family who live where Taylor Swift bought a mansion in RI that she was denied membership to the local yacht club because she was not "old money". I heard this back in 2013 when she first bought the place and I haven't been back so I don't know if that has changed since then.

Where I am in Vanuatu in the south Pacific we have wild cows in the bush. Originally, these cows would have been domestic but escaped and they raise their young in the bush and now people hunt wild cows. Cows are usually kept by a rope around their neck tied to a tree and every couple days move the cow to a new area to let them access fresh vegetation. There are also some big plantations for coconuts and these usually have cows which if they break a fence will allow many to escape into the bush and hills.

People here use a dozen or so dogs to sniff out wild animals in the bush and chase them down until they tire enough for the hunters to catch up and spear the animal. These hunting parties can take days of hanging out and following the dogs or just one if lucky. Then carrying home giant cuts of meat is the hard part which often requires the hunting party to leave a lot of fresh meat behind.

Thanks for the answer. I was not aware of all those details and sounds like I had a relatively easy time with RTMP since both projects I built, coincidentally, used either ffmpeg or OBS.

Sorry for going off topic a bit, but what is wrong/not ideal with RTMP? I've been using RTMP with Nginx for a couple projects and didn't notice anything inherently wrong. However, I was working with streaming for the first time so whatever problems I ran into were probably overlooked as a part of learning the tech.

What problems do you have with "maintaining an RTMP stack" does any of these newer protocols alleviate? What do you mean exactly by RTMP stack so I can be sure I understand you correctly? Thanks.

Here in Vanuatu we could also hear it. On facebook people from all the islands are talking about it and were trying to figure out if it was one of our own island volcanoes that erupted.

I live in Vanuatu and is it very far to the west side of the Pacific yet the almost southern most island of Vanuatu, Aneityum, has stories of what they called the "Yellow People" that were on the island before they, Melanesians, arrived from northern islands. These people on the island were excellent stone carvers and could make stone walls which the current locals admit they never learned from the "yellow people". Old engravings exist still of these original people that to me sound like those may have come from the east, South America. I don't have photos though, this is a story I just heard recently from family members of that island.

I've also found this project to be very good. I used it for a personal project to help me manually tag images and prepare a payload to upload to a remote server's database.

Some of their naming conventions though are odd IMO but otherwise I thought it was an easier way to process images than a webapp which is my usual working area. Now that I think of it though, a juniper notebook may have also been a solution but I wanted to dabble with writing a GUI.

That assumes there's no mixing involved to call it a recommendation engine. I just don't have time to know all songs from beginning to end by title alone anymore or to have a curated playlist ready for every occasion so it helps me find "recent songs I rated highly and downloaded within the last month" or find "a song with a vocal and in X,Y or Z key of a certain genre". I don't want to clash two vocal songs together by accident or I want to be aware of some other note I left on a song before I cue it so I can filter more easily.
